Great food & wait staff. We live ten minutes up the road from Middleton but for whatever reason it’s not in our consciousness to eat dinner there. We stopped there last night and, while they seemed a little confused that we just walked in (apparently it’s more of a destination that people plan ahead and make a reservation for) they were very accommodating. Jason, our waiter, was incredibly informative. He knew the menu and the specials and made great recommendations. We were never rushed or hovered over. I was pleased to see a vegetarian plate, which changes daily, on the menu. It was delicious. My husband had the hanger steak, which he also loved. The after dinner coffee was some of the best I’ve had in America. Jason even gave my husband a to-go cup after we raved about it. We will certainly return.

Not for vegans or vegetarians. While there is a vegetarian option on the menu that they can make vegan (vegetarian potluck), I strongly recommend against it. It is essentially a soupy low country stir fry and is disgusting. I would expect that a restaurant that carries 3 chefs would be able to create something more appetizing.

Best meal hands down of the weekend trip to Charleston and we ate at Poogan’s Porch, Magnolias, SNOB, Blossom, and Leaf. Best fried ochre in the world and the Hougenot Tort with cinnamon ice-cream was out of this world. Outstanding meal, service, beautiful view of the gardens and excellent staff.

Anniversary Dinner. Great service, the waiter never missed a beat our courses were served seamless. The wine list was a little short not a very big selection. The wife and I both ordered the specials for appetizers, they were wonderful. I had the filet which was missing something but still very good. My wifes sword fish could not have been done any better. All and all I would give it 3.5 stars. It would be 4 stars but for 167 dollars I expect perfection and it was a little shy. I would go again because I think they could do better.

View Gardens B4 Dinner at No Cost!. After 530p and with a MIDDLETON PLACE RESTAURANT dinner reservation, there is complimentary admission to the vast acres of MIDDLETON PLACE English Gardens. In one hour’s time, we covered just as much as we cared to see of the Gardens. It was very peaceful as we didn’t see another person the entire time! The MIDDLETON PLACE RESTAURANT wasn’t anything to write home about. It was far from a romantic setting, even tho dinner was by candlelight. It was extremely noisy, like eating in a diner, especially when a couple arrived at 830p with 2 toddlers – then it got really crazy!Husband and I shared one appetizer and one dessert; two entrees and two martinis came to just under $100, including gratuity. The entrees did not include salad.Once our server realized we weren’t going to run up a $200-$300 bill, he was much more attentive to tables that were doing just that!We believe that the opportunity to walk the Gardens at no fee greatly added to the value of this evening.

Simply not good. My husband and I had lunch here today with high expectations, but were sadly disappointed. My husband’s quail was tough, the collard greens were so salty I couldn’t eat them, and the salads were served on saucer-sized plates. The best part was the view. I highly recommend visiting the plantation, which was a wonderful experience, but would pass on the restaurant.

Good, but expensive. The food at Middleton Place is very good Southern food. They have everything from fried chicken to pecan pie. But, you aren’t going to be getting it cheap. If you are already touring the plantation, want a good meal, and don’t mind paying for the atmosphere then go for it. But if you are just in town and looking for good local food, there are places with as good or better cooking for a lot less money – even downtown.
