The Real Deal. If you are looking for REAL BBQ–real smoked meat–then this is the place to go. The pulled pork is my personal favorite and melts in your mouth like butter! The chicken is delicious as well. My husband is a brisket snob and this is the only place he will get it. He also says these are the best ribs he has ever had. They are NOT pre-boiled like some other places. They also serve a great beef hash (not the usual pork) very different and it has a really good slightly spicy flavor. There are signature sauces on the table. Add as little or as much as you want, but DO taste the meat before adding anything. I think you will be surprised that you don’t need a lot of sauce to give it flavor. The side dishes are what you would expect, mac and cheese, green beans, etc., but try the bourbon baked beans. They are excellent!! There is usually a delicious homemade dessert available. The folks that run the place are an extended family and will make you feel like a welcome member.

Everything is great at Smokey Blues. We had an early lunch on Good Friday at Smokey Blues. I had the 5 bones rib plate with mustard slaw and potato salad. My wife had the pulled pork with a double side of the bourbon baked beans. My daughter had the pulled chicken plate with mac and cheese and the bourbon baked beans. The rub on the ribs was great. A huge amount of meat on these ribs and very tender. They pulled clean from the bone. I could eat them without the sauce but I love the hot BBQ sauce. I have bought this stuff by the pint here. I love the dressing in the mustard slaw, what a great bite. The potato salad is great too. My wife said the pulled pork was so tender she didn’t even need sauce. She loves the beans and always gets a spoon to get every drop. My daughter loves the smoked chicken, tender and smoky. She also always gets the baked 3 cheese mac and cheese. It is gooey with cheese. After we ate all we could saving room for dessert we shared a piece of strawberry cake between the three of us. Everything was great as usual. The people are wonderful and I’m glad they reopened the restaurant after the owner passed away in early February. The new pitmaster apparently paid attention because everything tastes the same, great.

Delicious. I spent a day in Memphis in September and ate ribs at Central BBQ, Charlie Vergos Rendezvous, and A&R BBQ. Let me tell you, this place stacks up. The dry rub ribs from Smokey Blues were delicious. Great flavor, no sauce needed. And the potato salad was amazing as well. And the prices were great – $11 for a rib plate and 2 sides; that’s great considering how much meat are on these ribs! This place definitely has the best ribs in Spartanburg, maybe the state. Check it out!

Treat your mouth. The best BBQ in South Carolina. The ribs have this amazing rub that will make you forget to use sauce. You must try the collard & black eye pea side dish, it’s incredible.

BBQ Perfection. It has been a month since our vacation and we are still talking about the great food we had at Smokey Blues. My beef brisket was tender, moist, and had the perfect amount of smoked taste. I am a BBQ lover and this place ranks tops in the USA. While sauce isn’t necessary, I just couldn’t help myself since the owner is a veritable mixmaster. I tried them all and loved them all. The sides rose to the level of the BBQ, which rarely seems to happen at most places. Try the baked beans for sure. The owner is super nice and really knows his way around a pit. He even visited our table and shared his secret weapon – bourbon! We felt right at home since he was using a great KY bourbon! Don’t miss this place if you pass anywhere near Spartanburg on the weekend. We don’t know if we can wait until next year’s trek to beach to get some more of this BBQ.

BBQ @ it’s best! Just so happens to be in S’burg!. I’ve eaten it twice in the last week…b/c it’s the best I’ve had since Austin, TX. Tender meat & huge portions make a man happy 🙂 I can’t believe how good the special sauce they have is ~ ASK FOR IT!

Great Pulled Pork. Smokey Blues has one of the best pulled pork that we’ve ever had. We love their sides and they have a great selection. We’ve ordered the cake twice (flavors change with the week and made by the owner’s wife) and both times, they’ve been awesome! We go back as much as we can. The staff is friendly and we always enjoy our meal.
