While traveling through Spartanburg stopped for gas and noticed this place. Excitedly I ordered the baby back rub plate. Opened it up as we pulled onto the road and to my surprise I was given half a rack of regular ribs. They were cold, dry, and at least a day or two old. The beams and potato salad were sugar filled and runny. The hush puppies were over fried. Disgusting! Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone with a pallet. This is not Southern BBQ.
Wish it was better!. I was in the area for the weekend and thought id try a local restaurant rather than a chain. The staff was very nice and the sides were good (baked beans, onion rings, hush puppies). The part I was looking forward to however was very underwhelming. I had a half slab of ribs. When they came out they did not display the hallmarks I am used to with ribs (crust/bark and a deep brown color) they were light brown and neither had a rub or a sauce on them, it didnt look like the ribs themselves were seasoned at all. Sadly they were very tough and lacked flavor. The sauce they serve on the side is quite tasty, but wasn’t able to make up for the ribs themselves. I ended up eating less than half, just couldn’t do it.The restaurant could also REALLY use a good cleaning. There was allot of dust on the walls, and visible dirt throughout.
Pretty impressive vinegar slaw, typical baked beans, cool little meteoroid shaped hushpuppies. Kind of fatty ribs but good. BBQ has a peppery flavor and is the best part.
This is by far my favorite BBQ place around. Ribs are amazing. BBQ is delicious. The BBQ slaw is second to none. Prices are excellent and the waitress staff are true southern belles!! Super friendly! Highly recommended.
A Taste Treat for this Yankee. It was next to hotel I was staying in, and it was the best meal I had on the trip. I tried the combo plate that included 1/2 rack of ribs and a generous portion of chopped BBQ with BBQ slaw and mustard potato salad and then your choice of bread. The ribs were some of the best I’ve had – nice smokey flavor, tender, and the 1/2 rack was very generous. The chopped BBQ was very tasty and in fact I did without slathering on the sauce. The slaw was OK (personal choice, I like creamy cole slaw), but mustard potato salad was fantastic. Decor is BBQ joint, service was excellent (but, I was only person in the place at 3:30 in the afternoon), combo plate was $11.50 and worth it. Very generous with soft drink refills, but did not appear to serve beer.
