Quintessential Spartanburg Dive, With A Dash of Flair. I’m a native Spartanburger and I have been eating from Basil’s for as long as I can remember. Is it fancy? No. Is it innovative? Definitely not. Is it better than Applebee’s? Hell yes! That’s all you should really anticipate when deciding whether or not you should eat at Basil’s. I have loved the Club Sandwich (and grilled cheese) since I was 7 years old, and my mother is obsessed with their Greek Salad (which contains potato…not for me). Prices are reasonable, if not somewhat steep, given the atmosphere. They should reconsider using completed Thomas Kinkade puzzles for wall decor, and leave the forrest green and burgundy decor back in 1994 where it belongs (seriously, same chairs since I was 7) but it’s not a bad place to eat. Usually pretty quiet, decent service, predictable food. More good than bad. I’m going there for lunch today.
This was great… in 1970. Dated and they serve most of thier steaks with gravy… for a reason. Run screaming!
Great food great service and gravy that tastes more like a delicious beef soup than a steak topper. What more can you say.
