I was in Spartanburg for work and found this place on here. I love German food so I was excited. It is not your traditional German spot so they have a lot more variety for the average person. The bartender Maggie was awesome. She recommended a great German beer that was in tap. She also recommended the steaks do I tried the Peppercorn Sirloin and it was delicious. The best part of the mean was the Goulash soup. It was amazing!!! This place has a great casual bar and the locals were awesome. They also have a nice dining room with an amazing fireplace if it’s more of a date night.

This was my second visit to this German restaurant. One of the best in the area. My cravings for German beer sausages and schnitzel is fulfilled. Driving down for an hour each side is worth.

Great food, iffy service. I have been to Gerhard’s many times but the last two times my guest and I sat ourselves, were not acknowledged by the wait staff for 20 minutes, then when they finally did speak to us, it was to tell us to move to a smaller table so that they could seat a larger group at our table. WOW. Have never been treated so rudely in my entire life. It seems that they have a group of favorite locals but they snub unfamiliar customers. However, the food is amazing. The She-crab soup is a favorite as well as the Carolina Shrimp basket. The paprika butter is addictive.I keep trying to convince my fellow diners to give them another change, but they definitely left a bad taste in our mouths.

Most FAVORITE. HANDS DOWN the best restaurant in the Upstate. We drive from Greenville (and it’s 800+ restaurants) to Spartanburg at LEAST twice a month to eat at Gerhard’s. Super delicious and so much variety on one menu. Always a great meal!!

Best Gormet Food in Spartanburg. Gerhard is a true chef that has really been an asset to the East side of Spartanburg. Unbeleivable good food. I go there when I miss fine food. I have eaten at places all over the country and this is as fine as any. I highly recommend the she-crab soup, the crab cakes and the rack of lamb. They also serve pizza that is good in bar portion of the restraunt. The atmosphere in the dining room is refined and the atmoshpere in the casual bar area is beautiful. Gerhard had would brought from his home country (Austria) and installed in the casual bar area. There is also a fireplace for the cooler times of the year that really sets a nice ambiance. Bread and a butter spread that is wonderful are brought to the table with your drinks before ordering.
