We love to go to Baker’s Sweets – it’s the place we take our out-of-town family to when they visit Sumter. My notoriously picky husband even enjoys eating here. Plus, their desserts are to die for!
My husband and I love this local gem! Great coffee, delicious baked goods and friendly staff. We have yet to eat off their lunch menu, but everything we’ve had so far has been excellent.

Delicious Pastries. I stop by once a week or so to treat myself to something sweet. The pastries there are delicious! I love that they have a variety of layered cakes to chose a slice from! The cakes are all delicious! Also the Shortcakes and Rolled Cakes are yummy! I highly reccomend the Cinnabun(?), Sticky Buns and Bars. I’ve had their cookies a couple times but was surprisingly not too impressed by those. Stick with the fancy looking stuff and you’re sure to get something good!
My weakness. My neighbors brought us a box of red velvet cookies when we first moved to Sumter and the cookies are now my weakness. I also really love their bars. The pecan bars are my favorite! My only complaint is that the food isn’t calorie free 😉 otherwise I would eat there everyday!
Baker sweets is the best cafe in town. It’s a good place to sit and talk with someone over a cup of coffee. The desserts are always the best. Especially the Cinnabon. I personally love baker sweets.
I am sitting in the parking lot writing this an shaking my rad is disbelief. I went into Baker’s Sweets I purchase a gift for my new neighbor and introduce her to a local business, the clerk was very rude as I asked her if they had any of the baked breads displayed for sale. Then I bought a pound cake an asked if I could have a paper menu to give to my neighbor. She was rude again an said no….they are being redone…did not offer to hand me a cake and party tray menu sitting right next to her. I then asked her if I could get a gift bag with their sticker on it. She said those are usually reserved for larger orders. I am saddened that a local business was being represented by someone with such a disregard for customer service….I regret trying to promote them and am driving somewhere else local. Big fish in a little pond mentality,
