Disgusting.. In my over 40 yrs. in US, I never tasted such horrible food in Indian Restaurant. We were in Rapid City,SD to see Mt Rushmore, we drove from Texas, and were craving for Indian food. There were 6 adults in our group, after reading reviews we went to this place, cook had 3 same tasteless, flavorless curries, he had simply added Garbanzo Beans(Channa) in one, in next he had added cauliflower, and in third pot he had some not too familiar vegetable. Curry was prepared with tomato sauce with hardly any or no Indian spices, we tried all three curries, being a great cook myself, I felt this place deserves 0 or anything below 0. We ordered roti which was half baked, we asked for raw onion to go with our meal, we were told he doesn’t have it. Owner seemed courteous, but it didn’t help us when it came to food quality. We were told rice is jeera(cumin seeds) rice, we hardly found any Jeera in rice, Basmati rice which is very common in any Indian restaurant thru out the world was not there. We had planned to order lot more food for our trip, but we just walked away without finishing what we ordered. We will never recommend this place to anyone unless you wish to throw away your money. Folks who rated this place more than 0 have no concept about Indian dishes.
The only Indian restaurant in rapid city. The chef could try to visit desispice.com or any of the indian food websites to get a few basics of indian cooking. For starters use salt and sugar. Indian food is not typically sour or bland. Try usin ready spices from an Indian store. They really add a lot I flavor (not chillies). The chai however was made excellent
Terrible food and even worse service!. My family and I just ate ate the downtown establishment and I have to agree with many of the other reviewers here and reiterate that this is the worst Indian food I have had, period! The staff is very young and inexperienced and it shows in the service. When I brought this up with the manager he only offered excuses for his and his staff’s lack of ability to provide acceptable service. No apologies were offered by him. It’s any wonder his staff provide the service they do since they have such poor mentoring and guidance. Please save your money and do not bother giving your business to this restaurant. Maybe this will send the message to the owner(s) that they need to revamp their menu, retrain their staff, and look for new management.
Please improve your food quality and flavor!!. For those of you who thinks food is excellent or good, and have given good reviews: Either you have never tasted authentic indian food or you are lying. I have been to indian restaurants across the country and outside the country and so far this is the worst indian restaurant (food wise) I have ever been to. I can clearly taste and smell can food in their food. Those of you who don’t know, they use canned tomatoes, canned beans and canned etc. What kind of restaurant use canned food? Just judge their food from that. Also, there is not much of flavor or variety on their menu. I guess they are surviving because they sell it very cheap, $ 4 for rice and one side. I have been there few times and every time I get disappointed. I wish they would provide good food made of fresh ingredients and little more flavorful with diverse menu.
A wonderful option if you have a variety of eaters in your group. It’s not fancy by any means but the curries are flavorful and the large portions are filling. I’ve always gotten my meals for take out, no eat in atmosphere what-so-ever.
Worst Indian Food Ever. I have eaten Indian food on 2 continents and this was the WORST I have ever tasted. My dinner tasted like it came out of a frozen food box. Annies Organic makes frozen Indian dinners that taste better than this place! Very dissappointed. I was hoping for an indian food buffet that was very authentic when they came to town but it is seriously lacking. Too bad because Indian food done right is Amazing!!
This was the best Indian food I have had. Plus it’s healthy so you dont feel bad if you eat it unlike others where they add tons of cream and junk. Small menu but it’s still a good go to place where if you want a little intimate spot to eat. The worker there was a guy with glasses and he wad not all to great. I was standing there in plain view and it took him to walk past me 3 times to notice me and he was texting on the job in the kitchen hiding from the cameras. Others wise I would definatly recommend this.
