I tried to email the restaurant directly, but after a month delay it was returned undeliverable! My partner and I paid $55/each for the tasting menu with wine pairing and could not WAIT to get out of the reso and will NEVER go back. The host was confused when we arrived and gave us menus, then took them away, then gave them back. We were left sitting with no instructions or ‘a server will be with you’ just awkwardness. We were left for several minutes sitting at an empty table, in which time we noticed the table cloth was filthy! It had not been changed from the meal before ours, ew!! Finally a server arrived and got us water. My partner declined the wine pairing and the server didn’t offer a discount or to give me the additional pour. Our courses came with little explanation with did SO LITTLE justice to the effort put in to the food. The food was presented well most courses. The spring rolls were disappointing as I could have made them myself, but the other courses were pretty solid. My partner wasn’t a fan of the lamb and the mushroom entre I got was very heavy but tasty . There was a palate cleanser before the entre that we thought was dessert and were confused (because the server didn’t explain the courses or the meal progression). Our dessert was poaches pears which were incredibly sweet and we couldn’t eat most of. I asked the waitress to box the desert but she never brought it back. After paying we waited several minutes but she never returned. On the way out I asked the hostess about it and she was very confused and wandered to the back to ask after it and didn’t come back for several minutes. My husband had enough and insisted we leave. This place has potential – it is the only place offering a tasting menu I’ve found in RC but OMG it is RUINED by horrible service andno attention to detail. Giant waste of money.
Won’t go again. The food was terrible and overpriced. The sides were cold and presentation was sloppy. The duck crostini appetizer was terribly overcooked and the bread was soggy with oil. The elk tenderloin is way overpriced for what you get. The service only made the whole experience worse. We won’t be going there again.
A real gem. The food and service here is first class. The salads are awesome – warm beet, apple Brie and the Caesar. The Elk is phenomenal as well as the scallops. You can’t go wrong and I’m amazed that there are so many negative reviews
I have been wanting to eat here! Joel was our waiter and was great! We had the most amazing elk! The elk was tender and flavorful. The vegetarian Napoleon tofu was great also! And for dessert flourless chocolate hazelnut torte was delicious with a crunchy exterior and smooth chocolate center.
We came in for a birthday party and had the best experience ever. Our server daniel went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience from begining to end. The organic menu was amazing he had really good knowledge and taught as alot through out our dining experience and we highly recomend you have him serve you when you go there thank very much daniel and the enigma crew
Empty Water Glasses, 15 minutes…. I went to Enigma for my 29th birthday dinner with my husband and was very disappointed. I was so excited that they had rack of lamb but was let down when it came to the table. They had paired my rack of lamb with grits that had mushy over cooked spinach in it and they put mushrooms that had been cooked to death on top of the rack so when u separated them the mushrooms all went flying. I asked the waiter if they had a cranberry or mint sauce to which he replied no I am so sorry but our chef is not here tonight. Then who is cooking all the poorly cooked and presented food? I wish people and places would stop being scared of putting sweet with meat. Rack of lamb and mint sauce are made for each other. I will not go back it was just way to gross to try again and grits with over cooked spinach tastes like cardboard. If you want a great dinner prepared by knowledgeable people look across the main street to the Corn Exchange they are amazing.
Food 8 of 10. Service 2 of 10. So altogether a 10? Not quite. Reservation for 8, seated after 815. Did not take my order for a good 20 minutes, bread was long gone by then. Didn’t have my drinks until AFTER my entree… The mushroom Avignon was delightful, but without anything to wash it down got too rich. Might come again, if they turnover their wait staff.
