I want to love this place. I was sooo excited to see an oven fired za joint in RC, coming from a city with several. I’ve gone three times now and it always falls flat for different reasons.The pizza was pretty tasteless, though. Mind you, I got mine sans cheese, but both mine and my partners were just ‘ok’, he was pretty happy I forgot the leftovers on the table. Aside from the bland flavors of the pizza and underdone crust, the brussel sprout side dishWAS DELICIOUS. I’d go just for them (and did, as it turns out). On another visit my partner had a sandwich loaded with meats which was a hit and I had a side kale salad and sprouts and side veg. The sprouts were again the star, the salad fresh, the veg very eh. The service the first time was obviously a new person, which we forgave. This time the server wasn’t clued in (when I asked ‘is this vegan’ the response was ‘yeah, it is just made with olive oil and butter’) and then got really busy and neglected us. I got a Guinness in an iced glass, which made me cringe. After waiting ages for our check we were again left feelingunderwhelmed.There are some great things about Kol- it is gorgeous and there are some tasty items on the menu (and I love the menu layout), but the execution of an ambitious menu falls short more often than not, the service has never been on par with thefood, andit just isn’t worth the price. It could be, though! As somewhere that is progressive compared to other resos around RC, there is a lot of potential…they just haven’t fine tunedthingsjust yet.
