Brisket Pho. Fresh shrimp spring rolls are amazing! Fresh, cool, and delicious!12 Sep, 2014Brisket Pho. Rich beef broth and an ample portion of noodles. Served with fresh basil, bean sprouts, and slices of fresh jalapeos. The service is great. Friendly and efficient. This is a really good place to eat. Easy access off of I-90.

This place is great. The service is friendly, the menu fun and varied, and the restrooms very clean. They even offer cute colorful plates for kids and give a military discount. The pho is awesome!

Good pho. Pho has quality, not too salty, broth. Meat was perfect. Fresh rolls were good too

Great! Fresh!! Delish!. My only complaint is that the table was too small for all our food. The portion s are generous. One dish could easily be shared by 2 or 3 people. 4 good-sized egg rolls come with the appetizer and they are great. The Lo Mein is flavorable with lots of fresh vegetables, again really big portion. The General Tsos is the best I ever had. It’s not the little breaded chicken balls that I was used to. Real pieces of chicken. The restaurant decorated modernly and very clean. The host and waitress were nice and attentive. I am very happy with my choice to dine here. I will definitely go again, and try the Pho.09 Jul, 2014General Tso’s Chicken. I loved that it wasn’t little breaded chunks/balls of chicken. They use bigger pieces of chicken, not too big, and cook it just right. Still the same great Tso sauce.

Best eggrolls ever!. Was pleasantly surprised with decor. Didn’t care for the Pho, but it was my first time trying it. Just a different kind of soup. Egg-rolls were amazing! I also had the Cubana sandwich, which was really tasty. Huge though…. I will definitely go back and am telling all my friends about it!!!

What the Pho?? – 4 Stars. Pacific Rim Cafe is a new Vietnamese/Asian Fusion place in a strip mall on North LaCrosse, across from the Walmart. It is in the same place that the now defunct Scholtsky’s Deli used to be. They had a Coming Soon sign out front advertising Pho & Sandwiches for a few months. I was happy to try this place last month after it finally opened.Decor is fresh and pretty upbeat. Like a contemporary Asian casual restaurant. It’s very clean and there is no hint that this used to be a fast food sandwich shop. Especially with the big aquarium wall at the front door. I have been here three times now and staff are friendly and quickly seat you. They are busier at lunch than dinner times. But I can still get right in and get a seat without a wait even during lunch.I have had the pho soup all three times I have been here, because it is that good. It is better than the pho at Saigon and Hana in Rapid City. For those of you who are not in the know, pho (pronounced FUH) is a Vietnamese soup with a light beef broth with some mild Asian spices, herbs and star anise. It is heavenly. Great for winter, but light enough to be eaten even on the hottest summer days. The pho at Pacific Rim is made just as a broth, and it is all assembled at time of order. You can get a small bowl (which is quite large) or a large bowl, which is a behemoth! They take the bowl, and toss in a big pile of tender rice noodles, onions and your choice of meat (meatballs, beef steak or beef brisket) and then they ladle the pho broth right over it. It is served to the table with aromatic herbs (Thai basil and parsley), fresh bean sprouts and fresh sliced jalapeno. I rip the herbs to be sure the oil leech out into the broth and then throw everything in the soup. The smell is heavenly. You have to throw everything in, as it just makes the soup (you can skip the jalapeno if you can’t take the heat). They provide you a Chinese soup spoon and chopsticks (and forks upon request). This pho is one of my favorites and could hold its own even in Seattle or San Francisco.I’ve also had their General’s Chicken, which they often have on special. It is very good and different than many General Tso chicken recipes. They use meaty thighs and they come out very crispy. The sauce is like a honey stung chicken with general’s sauce poured over it. I highly recommend and it is one of my favorite General’s Chicken of all time. I’ve also had their Cuban sandwich. It’s nothing like a South Florida Cubano, but it is good.If you are in Rapid, a fan of Pho Noodle Bowls, I highly recommend the Pacific Rim Cafe. It’s one of my favorites. And if you just are a soup fan, or want to try something new, then go check it out. I like to support local businesses like this who provide a quality product. And if you really want to go authentic and are really adventurous, you can get your Pho with tripe or tendon.
