Amazing food! Amazing service!. I took my family to this wonderful place today for lunch. I’ve never written a review before but I cannot resist in this case! We were greeted with a big smile and the service was the absolute best we’ve had in Memphis! Everything they placed on our table was beautiful in presentation and so delicious! We sampled several of their sushi selections and all were great with very reasonable prices. I would highly recommend the Rainbow Roll! I also had the chicken yakimesi which was also great and well portioned! They gave us complimentary dumplings that were extremely tasty because it was our first time there! We mentioned it was our son’s birthday and they were kind enough to bring a tasty dessert to the table and sang for him! We’ve been to many sushi places in Memphis, including Ryu, and this one is by far the best. The whole experience today was perfect from top to bottom and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Needless to say, in a city full of places with lack luster service and sub par food, this place rises high above the rest and is a true gem that we intend to return to very soon!
The service here is beyond exceptional for a small scale fast serve sushi bar. The food and rolls are inexpensive yet good quality. The Kano cheese (crab Rangoon) are some of the best I’ve ever had. The miso soup was delicious. I saw they had deep fried cheesecake on a review but it wasn’t on the menu. I asked our server/cashier about it and she said its something they only make sometimes. She asked if we would like it and of course we said yes. She went to the back and made it herself. I am wondering why it’s not on the menu!? It is something I will be craving on a weekly basis now…
Rainbow Roll and Miami, Boston and Phily Rolls, with ginger dressing for dipping18 Nov, 2014Great sushi for the price. Was visiting Memphis and ran across this place. Easy to miss in the little strip mall but we’ll worth the effort. I got a Miami, Boston, Phily, and Rainbow Roll. All were tasty and fresh, the tuna was quite good. My wife got shrimp chicken Lo Mein and it wasn’t so dazzling, lack of seasoning and not much sauce. All in all though it was well worth the sushi, she loved the ginger dressing for dipping the sushi in. Rolls are cheap also, running around $5 for the regular rolls, around $10 for the premium rolls like the Rainbow. Definitely will go again when I’m in town!
Great Hibachi, Bad Sushi, Wonderful Staff. I love going to OEC! The staff are like family, and are always very prompt in both the preparation and the service. I’ve eaten in & ordered take-out here, and when you order take-out and they quote 15-20 minutes it’s almost always ready early! The hibachi menu here is amazing and healthy, cooked on the grill behind a glass window that lets you watch in the kitchen. Very clean, from the kitchen to the tables. My personal favorite is the hibachi steak (make sure to get some creamy ginger sauce on the side for your rice, it’s amazing!) and the kani cheese (crab rangoon).The only bad thing I have ever had here was the take-out sushi. I ordered 4 different kinds for a Japanese class and when we opened up the containers the rolls reeked of spoiled fish. We weren’t even able to eat it! Never tried their sushi again after that. I highly recommend for any of their hibachi items, though! Great quality and a lot of food for the price!
Best sushi best service. The Lisa roll rocks. This restaurant has the best services in the memphis area by far. Dude From Bartlett. Our favorite Asian food! Tim and Jessie are great owners and hospitable restauranteurs! Everything tastes fresh, it’s served quickly and there is a lot of variety.
Great take-out/amazing ginger dressing. Entire family loves this restaurant for take-out sushi or hibachi. Great price on hibachi dinners. Try the Sunshine Roll. Best ginger dressing in town.
