Not BBQ. No smoke present in this food, the tell tale smoke ring in the brisket was missing and tasted oven cooked. I had the combo w/2 meats chicken and brisket the chicken was oven cooked, sliced and grilled. The two sides were string beans right from the can with no additional seasonings and fries which were good. The dining area was also a storage area for cases of beer, the parking lot had its share of pot holes and mud puddles. I peeked in the kitchen while waiting for my wife. Had thecwere lots of microwaves and again no traces of indication there was a smoker/slow cooker in there. I did see a member of the kitchen staff eating and drinking from a pitcher of beer I thought that was odd. Anyway I wouldn’t go back this place needs a redo.
People apparently don’t know real barbecue. Thank God I went in with a coupon because this place was not worth my money. My husband and I have hit up a lot of different barbecue joints in a few states and Judge Beans is by far the worst I’ve ever had. I’ve NEVER spit out food at a restaurant before and I spat twice here. Pretty shocking. They bring you tortilla chips and a pretty spicy concoction of salsa. It felt very out of place for barbecue. Texas toast would have been a better table freebie. I’m shocked at all the good comments. This place tastes like a mediocre backyard cookout with overcooked meat. Actually, burnt meat. I had the half chicken and the skin came charred and black. I tried to eat the skin anyway and it was so chewy that it was like chewing bubble gum. Spit 1. The baked potato was huge, but the sour cream and cheese was not up to par with what’s expected of a restaurant. It tasted like Great Value brand toppings. The green beans were good. Bland, but nothing a little salt didn’t fix. The Texas toast was literally just a piece of bread slightly toasted. No garlic. No flavor. Just toasted bread. Not impressed. As I kept working on the chicken, there was so much bone in it I finally gave up and spat the last bite out. They didn’t have pulled chicken and so I took the waitress’ suggestion. Safe to say I won’t be going back and I’m trying to save anyone else from the bad experience too. If you’re familiar with native Brentwood folk, then you’ll understand why so many of them are easily impressed. They enjoy spending a lot of their riches and even when mediocre food is overpriced, they’re thrilled to have just been able to throw down big bucks.
Good BBQ. Very comfortable atmosphere, clean, and just good BBQ Ribs were outstanding, brisket lean and tender Dont overlook the chili
Best BBQ EVER. Great flavor, moist and tender.. The best BBQ I have had besides my own backyard. We had some of each meat; brisket, pork, ribs, chicken, and sausage. It was SO full of flavor and tender; did not want any BBQ sauce for it because it was great on its own. The mac n’ cheese and green beans were good, but the okra left something to be desired; but sides aren’t what I came for. The BBQ is great. Should have brought a big pack home with me for the week.
The Overcooked Brisket!!!. I ordered smoked chicken from Judge Beans a while back and it was horrible, I could only eat a couple of bites. Thinking that may have been an off day, I ordered brisket this time and was even more disappointed. The brisket was so overcooked, ok so I’ll just say it, it was BURNT, DRIED OUT, AND as TASTELESS as the smoked chicken I ordered before. It should never have been allowed to leave the restaurant like that it was fit for nothing but the garbage. I am shocked that any establishment would allow that. The owner must not care about the products they are serving, because this was a bit ridiculous. Needless to say I will never try this place again, I have had enough of this. I have included a photo of the brisket to show just what I received. As Dry as can be, and not at all palatable. I just can’t say it enough.
I like brisket….. I’m not sure if I am spelling brisket correctly, but I love to eat it. Judge Bean’s does brisket right. Theirs tends to be on the leaner side than some locations. Some try to make that seem like it is dry, but it isn’t. It is just lean. There are locations in Nashville that have fattier brisket. Anyway, they also have good mac/cheese, fried ocra, and nachos among other things. Enjoy it.
This Chicago girls mouth is burning! I loved it! Shared the sampler platter for 2. Asked for xxtra hot bbq sauce, yum yum. Complimentary chips and salsa caught me off guard with the warm bbq twist to salsa but i was soon reaching for more over and over again!
