Excellent quick Mexican. Love the mix and match tacos and the queso is really could. Could be a little more abundant. Popular post church spot so beware of long Sunday lines. They have so real fun glass bottle Mexican sodas in flavors like pineapple do I definitely suggest grabbing one for something a little different!
Had dinner last night and it was great. Two taco plate with the local BBQ taco and smoked brisket taco. Both had great flavor and spice. The ham hock pintos were good but the jalapeo coleslaw was a little dry for my taste but good flavor.
Lacking. I keep trying to like Local Taco, but I’m officially giving up. Every time I’ve been, the food has been meh and overpriced. With all the great Mexican and Tex-Mex places in town, there’s no reason to settle for meh. This last visit, I tried the smoked chicken salad (mixed greens, smoked chicken, pineapple, golden raisins, dried cranberries, spicy peanuts, sherry walnut vinaigrette). The greens were your typical salad from a bag, the chicken had no distinguishable smoke flavor, the fruits were what you’d expect (from a bag/can), the peanuts were missing, and the vinaigrette just tasted like oily vinaigrette. Overall I felt like I paid $10 for a salad I could have made at home and made better (I definitely wouldn’t have forgotten the peanuts). I’ve felt that way when I’ve gotten their tacos too… inevitably I get a piece of grisly meat, or the whole thing falls apart, or there’s not enough sauce. The enchiladas are bearable, but as one of the pricier options, still not worth paying more just for the taste. They also charge for chips and salsa, and with the taste of those as well, they really shouldn’t. Now if all you want is a relaxing drink on the deck overlooking a parking lot, then this is your place. But I’ll be taking my Tex-Mex cravings elsewhere from now on.
HURRY UP AND ORDER AND EAT SO THEY CAN CLOSE THE RESTAURANT. The Local Taco should just stop serving at 8:00 pm since the staff so noticeably wants to leave. Unbelievable! I am in the service business and if I was the owner of this restaurant, I would let go of half of the staff. Unwelcoming, complaining behind the bar in front of the customers; I continued to be amazed. How could this place have repeat business unless it is the only Mexican place in Brentwood. I drove in from Memphis for one evening stay and I am very disappointed that I chose this place to have relax and a bite. The shrimp Gambas was real tasty but then they were out of shrimp when I wanted some more. First time and last time to stop at Local Taco. I did notice patrons on a patio table leave because of lack of service. That is what happens when the staff’s concern is on closing up rather than putting efforts into the customer have great service, great food and a great time.
Underseasoned, nothing special. I went with my boyfriend last week. The servers were friendly and our food arrived quick. I got a mix n’ match of the brunch tacos – southern fried chicken, brisket, and shrimp. I also got a side of Mexi Tots. My boyfriend got the smoked port butt platter with queso cauliflower and jalapeno coleslaw. The mexi tots were good and quite flavorful, but the meal went downhill after that. None of my tacos were seasoned at all, and the shrimp was had a sort of rotten taste to it. My boyfriend’s pork was tender, but there was no flavor at all. The jalapeno coleslaw had no flavor either, it was like eating plain lettuce. We weren’t expecting typical coleslaw flavors, but it would have been nice if there was even some heat from the jalapenos, or acid, or something. We’ll never go back, and I’m left wondering why in the world people would pay these prices for bad tacos? There are a number of much more delicious and authentic choices in the area.
Great food! Triple Shrimp Tacos with turnip greens were excellent! Service was slow. Should serve chips and salsa at dinner while waiting to take our order. Margaritas were great !!
I don’t know what happens to this restaurant. It used to be so good. We went last night about 6:30 and sat at the bar and had a terrible experience. First the bar was packed and they had one bartender for the bar area and the patio. Nothing against the bartender; he did his best to keep up. A second bartender showed about 30 minutes later which helped. I could deal with the bar service, it was slow but the bartenders were working hard to keep up-it was the food and the kitchen personnel. We ordered quesos and tacos. The queso showed up about 30 minutes later and was dry and over cooked and not edible. We sent it back. Waited 90 minutes for our tacos, which never arrived. We could see the kitchen through a large window in the bar area. There were 3 cooks standing around with their hand on their hips pointing at the order tickets and seemed to be discussing each one. It was pathetic to watch as this one took about 3 minutes to fill a tortilla in making a taco. Come on. They’re tacos. You should be able to whip them out in a few seconds. Needless to say we left without eating after waiting for an hour and a half and went down the street to 5 guys burgers.
