Ugh. My husband and I decided to go back for the first time since the flood and were horribly disappointed. We went for our anniversary, hoping to have a few drinks, a good meal, and relaxing conversation on the water. When we arrived at 5 pm on a Sunday we were given the choice of two tables, one by the stage and the extremely loud swing band or one right by the bar. We opted for the bar table but unfortunately still couldn’t carry on much of a conversation because the band was so loud. Because we were by the bar we had people bumping into our table the entire time (and had several behinds in our face for the majority of our meal.) We ordered the grit cakes which were pretty bland, side salads, and the steak medallions and chicken tacos. I sent the steak medallions back because the quality of the meat was so poor that I couldn’t even cut through it with the serrated knife I was provided. The potatoes that came with it were hard and cold as well. My husband liked his chicken tacos though he said they were a little bland so I decided to try the mahi tacos instead. I expected some nice pieces of fish but instead got minced fish and on a bed of so not so great salsa. It was very bland, but much better than the steak. The drinks were also crazy expensive! Our server was very nice, the only shining star about this place, and unfortunately not enough to get us back there. Our tab was $100 before tip and we left feeling hungry and depressed. Save your money and go somewhere else! It’s not even worth the atmosphere.

Completely under rated. Forget what you thought you knew about the Blue Moon. It is a great venue, with excellent entertainment and a (mostly) friendly staff. Food wise, the burgers are good, the oyster po boy makes you feel like you are in NOLA, and the double D chicken sandwich is very good. I would avoid the shrimp po boy (the shrimp were not detained, I opted for the fried version which where just oily and flavorless). Not a huge draft beer of wine selection, but a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Our new favorite place.
Good food, great setting.. Service was excellent, food not too bad for a bar, great reggae band playing (but not too loud), weather was perfect. It all made for a great fun-day Sunday!
Ehhhh..first and last meal there… The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed. I love the seating and views. The food was mediocre at best. We started with the grit cakes and crab dip. The grit cakes were ok but over priced. The crab dip was not very good at all. I question if it was real crab or imitation. I had the grilled mahi mahi sand on a pretzel roll. The only flavoring was the remoulade sauce which wasnt bad, but I expected much more from the fish. My husband had the Coconut Shrimp Platter. The few shrimps were ok but the black beans a rice served with it were inedible. It appeared they had been hanging out at the bar waiting for the next victim. My daughter had the best meal by far. She ordered the steak medallions. Excellent all the way around! Great place to go have a drink and enjoy the water… dont waste your money on the food.
It’s a great place to have a drink and enjoy the music. The staff is friendly. The food Is very mediocre. FRESH is not on the menu.
Awful experience. 45 minute wait was an hour and half only to be seated at a bar when we waited/requested table near water. Insult to injury, the wrong meal was brought out. Can’t believe I had to pay for such a bad experience. Rest assured, my hard earned money will never be wasted here again.
