My dad and I were passing through Nashville. Wanted to eat something on the way so we stopped in LJ’s. I ordered the green curry and my dad had the basil dish. We both asked for spicy version at their level 5! Both were awesome!!
I really want to like LJ. There are lots of positives. The place is clean and attractive. Prices are competitive. Mostly, they’re really cooking their food instead of using food service truck entrees. The veggies are fresh and properly prepared. The variety of dishes offered is great. Unfortunately, all of our meals have been lacking flavor. Thai basil stir fry labeled spicy was very bland and with only a touch of Thai basil. Spicy Chicken and vegetable stir fry came in a totally bland brown sauce that didn’t even taste of soy sauce. When I asked for Chinese hot mustard to go with our egg rolls and pot stickers, I got those take out packets of yellow tasteless goo. This is what they hand out in strip mall take out places, not what I expect in a sit down restaurant. I understand it’s under new ownership and I hope they’ll up the flavor profile, because LJ has so much else going for it.

My new neighborhood favorite. After finding LJ’s a few weeks ago, they have quickly become my new neighborhood favorite. But, that’s just my luck because it’s worth a drive across town to get there. LJ’s is serving up some to the best Asian Cuisine that I’ve had in a long time…maybe the best I’ve had in Nashville. Their prices aren’t bad and their portions are more than generous. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is quiet and comfortable. If you’re in the neighborhood or up for a drive across town, I’d certainly give LJ’s a try.
