Hidden jewel! So awesome to have this in Columbia!!!. My family and I have been to quite a few Hibachi steak houses in different cities, and I can say confidently that the food here is excellent! Fujiyama is a small place, so there is no show at the table (Sure it’s fun, but sometimes you just want food, you know?), but the meals we had left no doubt that there is an accomplished staff and Master Chef in the kitchen. My husband and sons had various Hibachi combos of steak and seafood with veggies and fried rice, and I had the Tempura Chicken – fried rice substitute for me was an extra dollar and worth every penny – and all the meals came with the traditional salad and soup. The portions were very generous, and the prices pleasantly reasonable. Even though we started with a generous platter of sushi to share, we spent almost $50 less then usual for the four of us at any other Hibachi steak house we have been to. I think we will be treating ourselves to Fujiyama’s for many more meals during the year instead of saving Hibachi only for our customary birthday dinners. The service was quick, attentive (I never made it to the bottom of my hot tea cup once, our waitress was so on top of refills) and very pleasant – and I LOVED the fact the table was set with chopsticks so we didn’t have to keep asking for them. If you are looking for Japanese food south of Nashville – look no farther – you found it here in Columbia.

Don’t judge this book by its cover. It’s beautiful inside, the food is amazing, and the waitresses are always nice and not overly attentive. One of my wife and I’s favorite places to eat in Columbia.

I had hibachi steak and veggies, my son had sushi. Fresh, light, excellent flavors. They also offer Chinese style meals. Best in Columbia.

No service. Lousy, slow service but , nice decor , must have been having an off night with the service , which is about normal in the mule city , which is why I usually drive north , went with my son at his recommendation , one waitress trying to work all the tables , too long to take our order , too long to get bring the food , then brought my sons food , mine came out about 15 minutes later , soooooooooo, i got to watch him eat then , after I finally got my food , he got to watch me eat , the worse thing was NO im sorry , NO explanantion, not one drop of remorse or mention of anything that was happening , so No tip. Food was good except the rice , had a weird taste to it , not the usual taste. Then to top it off my glass set empty most of the meal. So note to staff : if your going to look the part, and charge like the big boys , have the service to back it up instead of trying to save a buck with one wore out waitress. If you gonna charge 16 bucks for a meal have better service than Shoneys. I paid for the food the tip is for service I’ll drive next time.

Beautiful decor and fantastic food. I’d rather eat here than drive to Franklin. If you haven’t tried it you should.

Best Japanese Food in Middle TN. Most of you would probably drive by this place and not even think about stopping. Probably for the same reasons I did many times. For one it’s in a strip mall next to a CiCi’s pizza and Kroger. Secondly it’s in Columbia and how good can Japanese food in Columbia be right? Well it’s flipping fantastic. It’s better than any Japanese food I’ve had in Nashville. When you step inside you forget you are in a strip mall. The bamboo floors and other first class appointments to the interior really set it apart from the normal hibachi places in Nashville. Now they didn’t have the money to lease a place large enough to have hibachi tables, and so they do have to make it in the back and bring it to your table. I know many people go for the atmosphere and I admit I was bummed at first also, but once I got the food and took a bite I was sold. Most hibachi places overcook the Chicken, but this place does it just right. The steak is always tender and cooked to the temp ordered. I have never had to even consider sending something back. For appetizers I recommend the Negimaki. It’s tender strips of beef wrapped around scallions (green onions) with a teriyaki sauce, and just simply amazing. I’ve never had a bad Hibachi or Tempura dish there, and the sushi is great as well. The Sushi chef is Aidan and he, like most, has his own sushi roll which is great. I also recommend the deep fried sushi rolls, this is the South after all. 🙂 I’ve never had room for desert, but it’s probably good as well. They also have a nice selection of sake and imported beer. The wait staff is always attentive and personable as well.
