Fail. I have tried this joint 4 times over the past 2 years and have always been disappointed. Despite the delicious smell of the cooker, and despite that this is a place that sells 100% ethanol free gasoline, and has Yuengling tall boys, I just cannot recommend it.Why? Because the meat is not kept at a safe temperature. By the time I get back on the interstate, the sandwich has always been room temperature. The last time I got a sausage sandwich (I am always an optimist and think next time it will be better), I promised myself I would call the county health inspector on them. This made the second time I could not eat a sandwhich until I had driven 120+ miles home to reheat it.
SMOKED BBQ!. This is the last place i would have expected to find killer bbq, but the smoker drew me in … if you go along I-40 in mid-TN (cookevlleish), take exit 288 and treat yourself (turn south, about 1/4 mile on left) … it’s a truck stop with a big smoker outside and the smell will pull you in! inside, there are smoked bbq chicken (wings, leg and breast quarters), ribs, brisket, beef ribs, sausages, etc. we like the ribs and brisket well but the chicken is the best! i travel this road regularly and ALWAYS stop for some to take home, regardless of which direction i’m taking. it’s just as good (maybe even better?) leftover the next day and so stock up when you stop! i haven’t tried anything but the BBQ but i HIGHLY recommend it!
