I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! It’s my favorite restaurant in cookeville by far! The staff is always so kind and welcoming, they make me feel like I’m eating with family. I prefer to go at night for the more intimate setting since I typically go alone and read the whole time. Plus, the food is made to order at night (as opposed to the buffet lunch- which is still delicious!) so you can get a customized level of spice. I always order the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and chai! Tonight when I went in, she had started making a new appetizer called chicken samosas (pictured with a to-go container of tamarind sauce that I had asked for) that was seriously INCREDIBLE!!!!!! And to top it all off, it’s all reasonably priced! I definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!! Eat here, they will hook you up!
I went to India Place this weekend for the first time. I have actually never had Indian food before this, so I had no idea what to expect. But, I loved the food and the owner was so sweet to our group of seven. I tried their ginger tea which was great and ordered the number 43. I would recommend this to anyone! You can order your food as hot as you’d like and they have a very large menu that can accommodate to almost everyone. With my meal they brought out the rice on a platter because of how large our party was and the food stayed hot because of the candle. If you’re looking for a new place to try this is it!
One of the very disheartening things before getting to Cookeville was the fact that they did not have an Indian restaurant here. But, within a week of my stay here, two Indian restaurants popped up! My my! I must have pleased somebody up there that upon my arrival there is Indian food in Cookeville again! On a serious note, India Palace was Cookeville’s only Indian restaurant until it shut down a year ago. I never knew the reason behind this. But, we heard from a few people that it had reopened and we decided to head here for their lunch buffet today. It’s a neat little place, which is run by the now widowed Naresh. She let us know that due to her husband’s illness they had to shut the place down a year ago. Now it had been four months since he passed away and she reopened the place. Very nice old lady. It was just 11.15 and we were early for lunch. The menu had: Veg Pakoras, Dal Makhni, Navarathan Koorma, Aloo Baingan, Ginger Chicken, Another form of Chicken, Salad, Chutneys, Rice, Veg Rice, Naan Bread and Mango Payasam. It was quite tasty and our experience was even better thanks to Naresh. She served us freshly made Naan on our table! They have the A-La-Cart option for dinner. The buffet is valued at 8.99, which is a reasonable price for the food they serve. I would definitely go back here not just because of the limited Indian food options.I recommend!
Absolutely love the food here. This is the only restaurant where I can get my vindaloo prepared as hot as I like it. The only drawback is that they are often out of a lot of their menu items.
Incredible Indian. We went here for dinner on a recent trip to Cookeville and I can honestly say it is the best Indian I have ever had. The owners were so nice and made excellent recommendations. I was stunned to see it so empty on a Saturday night. Take advantage of this Cookeville secret!!
One of my favorite places to eat ever!. The owner and his wife are absolutely wonderful people and the food is beyond delicious. If you’re new to Indian food, the buffet is always a really good bet. There’s a good spread and things aren’t very spicy, although you can ask to get spice to add if you want. If you order off the menu they’ll make it as spicy or mild if you want. The naan bread is amazing, and I can never pass up the gulab jamun.
This place is incredible!!! I have been eating here for 4 years, it is by far the best Indian food I have ever had. Rajan, the owner, is a great person and really fun to talk to. Every time I come back to town I always have ti get my favorite food at the India Palace (Rogan Josh). Words cannot describe how great the food is. Rajan is a wizard in the kitchen and his blend of spices and herbs is quite exquisite. Best place to eat in Cookeville. This is a must go.
