  It has been several years since I have been to eat at Mauricio’s. After working two long, hard days, I was in the mood for some really good food. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 5pm, without a reservation, but it wasn’t a problem as they weren’t very full yet and we got seated right away.Our waitress was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and she went through the special like a pro. She gave us time to decide what we wanted and meanwhile, we had the room to ourselves. She came back to take our order, and I got the special, Arctic Char over Risotto with Capers, and Grilled Zucchini and Squash. My mom got Blackened Salmon, Risotto and Grilled Asparagus.Another waiter brought our salad and delicious bread, and he told us something had come up with our waitress and that he would be taking over for her. He did a great job. Our food came out about 20-25 minutes later. The food was delicious. It did need salt and pepper, but I have found that almost everywhere I go, that is the case. Other than that, it was incredibly scrumptious! I will definitely be going back!

  Has been a number of years since returning to Mauricio’s. Had always been a special favorite place. Was expecting a similar experience last evening upon returning to Mauricio’s. Apparently now under different management with a similar menu however was quite disappointing. Had seafood Mauricio’s, Always a past favorite but was not as expected The sauce was heavy and drowned the pasta and seafood. The pasta was badly overcooked and limp, no way near El dente. Sadly disappointed it will probably be sometime again till I return.

  Some places are beautiful, whatever the end outcome maybe, it is still beautiful and you just fall in love with the set up. Mauricio’s is beautiful. A house converted into an Italian restaurant, one of the very few fancy places to eat at in Cookeville. We have been wanting to go here for a while and finally ended up going last Saturday. We were greeted by the hostess when we entered, we had a reservation at 7 and were shown to our table. We would have gotten a table without reservation too, but it was a bit crowded. Our adjacent table was too close to us, we did not mind, wonder if they did. We were told the specials by our waitress and we glanced at our menu and waited to order. They have alcoholic beverages served too. Here is what we ordered:Caesar Salad (I don’t think my friend was too happy with it)Spaghetti (I chose no meat, but I am not a major fan of tomato and it had too much of it. Nevertheless, tasted fine)Four Cheese Ravioli (This tasted nice)Chicken Melanese (My friend said that it was amazing. The crust was crispy and the chicken was juicy, which is apparently a very rare combination to achieve)All of us went for petite portions, and it suffices your hunger but you feel you could eat a little more. Everyone has gone through that feeling! 🙂 Once we ordered our waitress brought salad and bread for the table. This was nice. Is this going to be one of my favorite places to eat at? Probably not because it’s a little pricy and I did not enjoy the food as much. But, I would definitely go here if an occasion demands a nice place for dinner!
