Ochas! Oh how I love it! This restaurant has been in business for years, and their food will tell you why! Located on the edge of Tennessee Tech’s campus, they obviously get a lot of college kids. But they also have a devoted following of foodies as well. They have limited hours, which some people don’t like, but those of us who are loyal Ocha fans don’t mind. When you go in, you go up to a buffet, and they serve you. You have a choice of rice, noodles, and I believe 5-6 different entrees. My favorite is the Sweet and Sour Pork. They also have the best egg rolls I’ve ever tasted, along with amazing cream cheese won tons. One thing that I really appreciate about Ochas is that they don’t use msg in anything they cook like many Asian restaurants. Msg gives me migraines, so this is the only Asian restaurant I can eat at in Cookeville. The owners are super nice and make you feel like family. You’re not gonna find a better place than this!
This is described to be one of those places that is absolutely loved or hated. I wanted to pay my due visit and categorize it myself. This Friday, we chose to head here for lunch. It is a small space that is nicely set up. They do not serve authentic Chinese food, but close enough. The owners of the place are really friendly. They have a selection of six gravies served with either rice or noodles. They price your meal based on what you choose. They also have Egg Rolls and Crab Rangoons. I just had the option of mixed vegetables. Although it was tasty, it is not something I would crave to eat at any point of time. But, the Egg Roll was extremely delicious! My friends loved the gravies they got. They serve chicken and beef. It somehow reminded me of comfort food.Located in TTU campus, it is very reasonably priced. People who eat meat should definitely try this out. I would probably go back for the amazing Egg Rolls!
Cookeville Staple!!!. Many not from the area first discovered Ocha while attending TTU. It has been a staple to all of the students. While the food is not Thai, Japanese or Chinese, it is blend that is very good. I am partial to the spicy chicken which is spicy but not over the top. My second favorite is the spicy beef, which is not spicy at all but sort of sweet. Each bach is a little different, but you always leave full and with a bit of nostalgia. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to try something different
