Always delicious. Although the service does tend to be a bit slow, the food is always great. I’ve had nearly everything on the menu at this point and it’s one of my favorite places to eat when I’m in Cookeville.
Skip It. Food and service go hand in glove for restaurants today. This restaurant fails on both accounts. The food quality is substandard. It may just be inconsistent, but it’s not worth chancing because the service is terrible. The staff is aggressive (they’re right, you’re wrong), and no one goes out of their way to make you feel special. Their poor excuse is that they are a small establishment, not a chain… They need to learn that the customers have the money. Cook and serve to the customers’ standards, or they’re not paying. If you do decide to visit, speak up and tell them what is wrong, and maybe they can fix it. If they argue, get up, and walk out the door.
Your mistake not mine. I ordered the snow mountain without teriyaki sauce on it and the kitchen made it with teriyaki on it. I asked the server to make one without since that is how it was ordered and was told i would have to pay for both. So I asked to speak to the manager or owner and was told he is very very rarely there but they called him and he felt like I should pay since he felt it was still good with the teriyaki sauce. So at this point I felt my hand was forced and I left without paying for anything. The food was good on the several trips I have made there before but this cheap ass policy by the owner is reason enough to avoid this place.
Horribel waste of time and money!. I have been to Taiko before and I have enjoyed it but this recent trip was for the birds! I love sushi because I was fortunate to grow up in Japan and travel Asia while in the military. I ordered Pho with fish balls which I happen to love. It arrived at a decent time at the table and as I proceeded to bite into one of my fish balls was frozen solid in the center. No problem, my mother owns a restaurant so I am can be sympathetic. Because of location some things have to be frozen in advance due to spoiling. I feel as long as the taste and quality are still upheld then there is no harm. Well I spoon some noodles to the surface and automatically I stop. The noodles were not the delicious clear rice noodles used for Pho instead it looked like the yellow noodles you get out of a ramen soup package. The broth tasted just like the ramen soup package as well. The taste was not enjoyable and I finally got the waitress to come over and I simply explained that I could not eat the order because it was not what I expected and I ordered garlic rice with chicken. She made a comment under her breath and took the bowl away and then a minute later the mousy looking waitress came back with her hands squeezed in a prayer stance. She told me that because they were not a big corporation that they could not refund my meal and I would have to pay for that order and my new order as well. She then tried to be helpful and tell me she could box it up or I could ummmm.. Try and get it down again! Then she asked if I wanted chicken or shrimp with my garlic rice. I told her neither. I said she could take that horrible excuse for Pho and please throw it away. I canceled my order and we were waited by someone else for the check. I was so angry I had to pay twenty two dollars for a meal I did not eat! I seriously will never go there again and no the waitress did not get a tip from either me, or my friend so maybe the restaurant can actually take the blame for their terrible food 😉
I don’t go anywhere else for my sushi. Taiko is my go to place when i’m craving sushi. Wouldn’t even DREAM of going somewhere else!
This is a great spot. Decor nice, modern and quiet atmosphere. Sushi was great, noodle soups also really good. Definitely a great find away from all the meat of Tennessee
