Great little burger place. I was really put back be this place not only because of the horrible location and old building. But because it is seeming run by rednecks and yet. The service was great the fried chicken was really good and my burger was really good. Granted this is a greasy spoon sort of place but it has a real charm about it that definitely works.

Good Diner place with a bit of flare. Typical lunch looking place. Once you get in there is a sense though that the place is just a bit more. The plate of steak and onions I had was good but not over the top. reasonable priced location and worthy of a trip now and then. They have a couple specials and looks like possibly some regulars as well. If people keep coming back then your ok.

Fantastic!. This diner’s exterior and dining room leave one feeling as though they’ve made a mistake. Is this really the restaurant with such fabulous reviews? It is. The food served here is as close to home-cooked as you’re going to get if you aren’t in your own kitchen. Delicious, seasoned veggie dishes, flavorful fish, juicy burgers, and cornbread muffins that are to die for are just SOME of the great menu items. The service was fabulous and prompt, and always offered a smile. The two times thus far that I’ve been here, the owner was visible in the dining room and made his way to every guest’s table at least once during their visit. He refilled drinks and cared for customers just as if he were the server. If you’re looking for a place to get a great, fast, friendly bite to eat in Cookeville, please consider this place. It’s a bit out of the way (on the far side of town), and looks like a hole in the wall, but could quite possibly be the best meal you’ll have here in town.

Beats Fast Food Everytime. I’m a college student at TTU and needless to say, i have to be rather frugal with my money. The Village Kitchen offers home cooked delicious meals that are in the same price range as a fast food meal… but you get to enjoy great food in a great atmosphere. Two thumbs up!

The food is awesome….stuffed burger, roadkill, porkchops, roast beef, fried green tomato, onion rings and mozzerlla sticks is what our group of 5 had – the cole slaw was incredible. if your travelling down interstate 40 between Knoxville and Nashville – this is a safe bet for unusually great food, fun staff and an overall filling time!

Good food, Good value. Simple diner food, always dependable, with new friendly owners working hard to keep you coming back. I love their grilled cheese sandwiches and the fried catfish and chicken – its all you can eat if really hungry – give them a try.
