Great, cheap, tasty options. Skip the salsa bar. It’s not very tasty.
Fish tacos = fish sticks in tortilla.
Very bland burritos. Salsa is soso.
Good. I still like chipotle more though.
Decent. but…. I have eaten here several times and have always enjoyed the food, but…I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about when they praise the speed, efficiency and cleanliness of the experience. Every time I have been there, the lines have been long and the process takes far longer than it needs to. Trash on the floor, spills and trash all around the salsas make them uninviting to say the least. The fish tacos have been a disappointment. Even prepared fresh to order, I have found the fish soggy and greasy more often than not. The sauce is uninspired and the limp lettuce is disgusting! A spicier sauce is needed and the lettuce needs to be switched out for shredded cabbage. The carnitas is moist and tender, but a bit overly spiced. If you’ve not tried it, get to Chipotle and try their carnitas. Neither theirs or Blue Coast’s are particularly authentic, so I guess it becomes a matter of preference. I prefer Chipotle’s.The Latinga chicken is okay.
Great food! Tortilla soup is a build-your-own meal and then they pour chicken broth on top. Excellent! Restaurant itself is quick-service like at Subway: stand in line, order food-type (eg: burrito, taco, etc), tell them what you want them to put in/on it as you move down the line, pay at the end. They will bring longer-prep items (like fish tacos) to your table. Seating is flexible with tables and chairs that can be pulled together for even very large (16+) groups. No complaints about cleanliness but no rave, either: they swept and wiped as unobtrusively as possible.
Every time I visit BCB, I have found it bright and clean and the employees helpful. I highly recommend the specialty chicken taco! I have tried the fish tacos and barrito and prefer the ones at Baja Fresh. The complimentary gum is a nice treat, too! 🙂
