Good, not great. We made reservations but several parties extended their dinner and no table was available for us. The hostess offered us a free appetizer which I thought was a nice gesture. The dishes we ordered were good and full of flavor but both of us that ordered chicken were unable to eat the chicken because it was so tough. As in most places in Nashville, parking is scarce. travelandtable.com
Restaurant Week. 3 Course Dinner for $30.14/ppA glass of the Tanute Chardonnay from Italy. Caprese Salad with orange tomatoes, pine nuts, basil in a balsamic vinegar & oil with fresh cracked pepper. Chicken Breast with sausage peppers & mushrooms in a red sauce. Chicken had a wing bone in and was very juicy and tender. Sausage was spicy but not overly. Butterscotch bread pudding to finish was better than the chocolate bread pudding at an old West End Italian eatery. Total bill for two including the wine and a strong coffee plus tip was about $100. Very good food. Atmosphere was quaint and cozy but cozier than I would hope for as I am easily distracted and the close proximity conversations were constantly distracting me away from my wonderful wife.
Once in a lifetime. Noona’s food is as dull as it’s concrete floors and plywood tables. Soggy pasta dishes, limp salads, frosty fish, flank steak… Flank Steak, Really? Yes it’s all true. If not for 2 or 3 sauces (IE: butter) the food would truly match it’s dull decor.Start with the $12 glass of wine and finish with an 18% gratuity. Cafe Noona ensures a ‘once in a lifetime experience’. And I mean once.
Wonderful Italian Jewel. This is definitely a keeper. Small, quaint, casual atmosphere, and friendly service. Best gazpacho I’ve ever had….with fresh cilantro & avocados. Wonderful vegetarian lasagna, wonderful trout. Great white wine selection, but if you’re a red wine snob you won’t be happy. We had dessert…..tiramisu, wonderful…..peanut butter cheese cake which was good….different….it was not very sweet, which is what dessert should be about, right?. Reservations are needed as it’s very popular and small…we saw people being turned away and it was a Wednesday evening. Bon appetit!
What?. Not exactly sure what happened…but what I ordered was… well… weird. Not eclectic weird. More like surreal weird. Like someone REALLY did not want to be prepping food on a Saturday surreal. Four of us. Lasagna, veal, and my partner and I did spinach gnocchi. Lasagna… yep that looked normal. The veal was veal. The gnocchi? Well it came in a HUGE bowl. Half filled with sauce. Maybe a cup to a cup and a half of sauce. Lost in the sauce was a small handful of the smallest gnocchi in the world. I mean like Guinness book of world records small. It was… in short sauce soup with gnocchi balls. OK let me give you what I mean by small. They were about the size of a peanut M&M. Seriously. No lie. Peanut M&M. So imagine about fifteen peanut m&m in a cup and a half of sauce. And my poor partner? She ordered the cream pesto. Now drowning anything in a bowl of cream pesto is just wrong. The one giant star was the tiramisu. My partner protested she did not want a whole one and that she would need a box. No box… and she is still licking the fork, I had the sour cream cheese cake. it was meh. The one other draw back was the heart of palm salad. Rather pricey little salad. So halfheartedly thrown together. The wait staff was awesome… the food was just sad. Tasty…. but sad.
Will come back when in town!!!. We came to Nashville for the Rock and Roll Marathon and came here for our carbo-dinner. We were not disappointed! The salad was full of flavor, definitely a favorite. Being a vegetarian, I ordered the lasagna and my bf ordered the lambs bolognese. The lasagna was one of the best I’ve ever had, tons of flavor. Maybe a bit too much cheese but not a big deal. My bf said it lamb special was fab. All in all great meal, will come back again!!
Caffe Nom Nom. Gosh, I smile so big when date night ends up here. I’ve visited this restaurant several times and the food and service were always great. I love Italian food (who doesn’t?), especially the homemade, delicious, no-one-can-cook-it-this-well goodness served up here. Choose your own pasta, sauce, and meat or gorge yourself on the delicious lasagna or other excellent dishes. I like the white bean soup too. Caffe Nonna’s atmosphere is cozy and romantic. Even if you show up without a reservation, they tend to be accommodating.
