Great Food, Abysmal Service. It really is a shame that the staff is so oblivious, because the food is delicious. I love the carnitas stuffed plantain,…

It was good, not great. Prices are a bit high. They need to create an easy way to get inside from the back parking lot. I had to go thru the place next door.
Love this place.. I decided to comment here because of all the terrible reviews that I simply just don’t understand. This is the third time I have been here, live out of town but come here when I am in the area. Each time has been wonderful. Fish tacos are some of the best I have had at a place like this. I absolutely love the shrimp mofongo, and would have gotten it today if I wasn’t going for a bike ride immediately after (huge portions and I didn’t want it sitting in the hot car for a few hours). The mofongo is spicy and sweet and fresh just plain delicious. Each time I have been here the service has been great. Love sitting outside, love the old garage ambiance. I’m a no frills kind of restaurant goer, so if you like a place for the good food, good service, and don’t need someone to hold your hand, set your forks in the right order, or park your car for you, you will love this place. Park up the hill, it is a good way to burn off the guacamole (which is also fresh and perrrfect).
BEST FISH TACOS EVER!. Its all about the FOOD and if you love fish tacos, this place is great, you can get it a la carte for $4 and its a good size. Great chips and salsa. My husband and I come here all the time, Sat nights are peak times so if you don’t want to wait go at lunch. Service is so so, but I dont really need my hand held while I eat, once I have my food I’m good. I love chagos and if you like a chill relaxed casual place that has great inexpensive food, give it a try.
Positives outweigh negatives after 6 visits…. The first three times I went, I LOVED this place. The mango mojito and salsa are AWESOME. The fourth and fifth times made me like it a little less due to being put outside in cold weather and rude servicebut my fianc and I went this past weekend and had great service, buffoons to watch, and good food. The location is perfect for walking if you live in the area. 🙂
RUDE. Such a terrible experience, it was crowded and tiny and they seated us outside in the cold in december. we were assured that if we got outdoor seating it would be warm because they had heaters, but it was all a lie. not only did the heater not work, there was no covering to keep the cold air out. when we tried to move our table we were rudely yelled at by the waiter. we should have left but continued to wait for our food. which unsurprisingly was flavorless and cold. do not waste your time or money by going to this awful establishment.
Possibly one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. We were seated outside in December in 48 degree weather. One of the screens was left open. We had to move our table in ordered to avoid the terrible draft. However, our waiter came and told us to move the table back and that he couldn’t close the screen. He was extremely rude in telling us this. Food is extremely inauthentic and tasttasteless. The sweet tea is weakly brewed. In short, do not go here!
AMAZINGGGG!!!!!!!!!!. Ok so I read some of the past reviews about Chago’s but I HAVE to disagree with the negative ones! Here’s MY experience. . .To start, its true that parking isnt the best. But what do you expect from a restaurant thats on a college campus? You can park anywhere along the Boulevard and fine parking within a few minutes. When you walk into Chagos you are greeted with a fun, casual, and friendly atmosphere. I have gone on several occasions. For lunch I was seated right away, dinner (on a week day) I was seated right away, dinner for the weekend I had to wait a little bit but not longer then I would have had to wait for any other restaurant. When we did have to wait, they got our table cleared as soon as the customers got up and seated us right away. The servers are wonderful! Very friendly and fun. One of our servers, Jason, was super honest about the menu. We told him what our favorite type of meat was and he recommended the Carnita Stuffed Plantain (which is a pork lovers DREAM!) We always had chips on the table when we asked for them and our servers always check on us to make sure we are ok. When I did go on a busy night, it took a little longer for chips and drinks but our server Nicolette came by and told us it would be a few minutes and always filled up our drinks when she wasnt working the other tables she was taking care of. Honestly GREAT SERVICE for anyone who has been my server there! The food is wonderful! They had a house special list and a mexican special list. I have tried things on both and everything has been delicious! PS- if you like shrimp, the Mofongo is to die for!Ok now heres the thing about the margaritas. . . when I went with a group we ordered a pitcher of the house margarita. Our server Nicolette told us that we should get the Top Self pitcher instead because they hand make them and said it has twice the amount of alcohol. . . so we got it… and let me tell you, it was VERY refreshing. I have also tried the strawberry margarita (which came in a jumbo size for $8) and it was delicious… same with the frozen mango mojito! They also had this HUGE margarita that a couple of my friends split. It was 60oz!! (they drank it all and walked out feeling great) 🙂 The servers offer desert every time (I caved and tried the fried bananas once) and it was like heaven in your mouth. They were topped with some kind of glaze?… YUM!Anyway, I have left every time full and satisfied and Im excited to go back this weekend for some drinks and a fish taco!
