I’ve never written a review before, but I felt compelled to write one after trying Fulins in Brentwood for the first time last night. I’ve been curious about this place for a while since it’s consistently voted Best Chinese in Toast of Music City, but after last night, I am confused as to why that is.I ordered a cup of wonton soup and Mongolian Beef for dinner. The soup was the blandest wonton soup I’ve ever had and the wontons tasted old/frozen. My Mongolian Beef came literally 5 minutes after ordering, which, to some might be a positive, but for me, it makes me suspicious. How can you cook up a fresh plate of food and really take the time to make sure it’s good in 5 minutes? I was so unimpressed by the beef dish. The beef and the sauce were over salted and the beef came in large chunks instead nice, easy to eat, slices. The whole thing just tasted like salt (I didn’t add any soy sauce either). My dad had sushi and was unimpressed, but I didn’t taste that so I can’t really comment on it. All I can say is this place is severely overhyped and if you want some good Asian food in Brentwood, go a few minutes up the road to Soy Terriyaki Bistro–MUCH better quality food there.
