Best Fish in Davidson Couinty. Hooray for the exquisite fish that hot stuff creates. I am really loving this place. We eat there every Friday, which is my only day out of the kitchen. The employees are courteous on site and on the telephone. Keep up the great food!
New Management Sucks. The food use to be great until the staff changed. The food now taste like they don’t change the grease out enough. When you fry chicken you have to make sure the grease is fresh or t will effect the taste of the the food, you can also tell by the color of the food. (Ei. Fresh=golden brown skin old=dark greasy skin) I came in to pick my order up and they were out of tea
Great Food. Had a Breast Quarter for lunch yesterday, heat level: hot. It was not just hot, but had a lot of good flavor from the spices. Excellent fries as well. Highly recommended!
I had a sampler with a fish sandwich, three wings & a side of french fries, medium spice on the fish & wings, honey mustard as dipping sauce. I wanted a baked potato though they were out at the time. I was pretty disappointed with the food. The fish and wings were rather dry and overcooked, mostly breading, and the spice was some sort of powdery dry rub that made me cough. The french fries were limp and lukewarm, something from a freezer bag. I prefer to support small places instead of the big chains when I can, though it turned out to be a bad decision this time. I’ve had better food from a grocery store deli for less money, and prepared in less time than twenty minutes.
The Real Deal. Hot Stuff’s obscure Antioch location is the only reason I can think of behind its anonymity on the hot chicken scene (It occurs to me now, though, that it’s also the only hot-chicken-first restaurant not to participate in the Music City Hot Chicken Festival). I’ve been away from hot chicken for a while, so I’m not really in a place where I can compare it punctiliously to the standards of the style like Prince’s and Bolton’s or the sexy newcomers like Hattie B’s, but I can assure you that Hot Stuff could hang with any of these places, and that it deserves more recognition than it gets.
Seriously great! Make sure you call in your order if you’re in a hurry.
