Food very good, I won’t say excellent, because I’ve had better. Service is terrible. After waiter finally got around to taking our order, (they weren’t busy on a Tuesday night), we waited what seemed like forever. Very poor service. Although we’ve been here in the past & never experienced anything but good service, this time was terrible. Probably won’t be back for a long time, if ever.
What Happened? ? ?. I’ve been going to this restaurant for years. Although it may be a small hole in the wall, little family owned restaurants have always been my favorite. They have never had a beer or liquor license, but conviently there is a liquor store next door where you can purchase your wine and then walk over to the restaurant, they let you bring in your own; however occasionally they charge you $5 to bring in your own stuff, I guess depending on how they feel. Anyways, for years they have been the best Italian restaurant in the Nashville area to go to; however I’m not sure if they let it go to their heads or sold it, and has new ownership or what but they have definately fallen off the block. The service isn’t all that great and the food is only alright, no where near what it use to be. Maybe they will get their groove back, who knows but I think I’m going to take a break from this one for while.
It’s sad. This place has good food but the management is absolutely horrible. My wife and I have been several times and know that you have to wait a little longer for fresh pasta. Until this past Saturday…We arrived at 5:50 and stood up front for 15 minutes before someone even came up to seat us. They took our order at 6:10. At 7:20, our waiter (who couldn’t care less) told us our food would be out soon (even though 3 tables who came in 30 minutes after us had their food and were ready to pay). We walked out at 7:38 without seeing any food.We won’t be going back. Take my advice, don’t waist your time at Mama Mia’s. There are plenty of other good italian restaurants in town.
Don’t know why this restaurant gets rave reviews. The lemon chicken was much too salty. The fresh eggplant was unrecognizable under a heavy layer of tasteless white cheese. And the salad was iceberg lettuce. Iceberg- Really!? Plus, we don’t like bringing a good wine and having to drink it out of cheap wine glasses and our table was near the door and we were cold all night. Our dining experience did not live up to the hype.
Not Impressed….used to be the best. This USED TO BE THE BEST Italian in Nashville. It is not anymore…not even close. The food remains decent but decent won’t cut it! Last night I dined in this establishment and half the seats were empty but they still took 10 minutes to seat us (this is a common occurrence at this place). I ordered spaghetti with Bolognese sauce (my standard) and they sent out about 5 bites of pasta and two spoonfuls of sauce (what??!!!). There is one server there that we always get (unfortunately…he is always there). He is rude and doesn’t treat customers with respect (you will know him…if you’ve had him). Someone please open another Italian restaurant with good food AND good service. One last comment….do something about your heat situation. Every Time someone opens the door when it is cold, it drops the temperature down about 20 degrees. You need 2 sets of doors or something….to deal with this!
Good food but the service lacks a bit.
Fantastic!. This is possibly the best authentic Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at. The food is phenomenal and service outstanding. The atmosphere almost feels as if you are dining in Italy. The food does take a little longer to get to the table, but that’s perfect when you are sipping your favorite wine, which you can bring with you to the restaurant. This also allows you to actually enjoy your meal instead of feeling rushed like most chain restaurants. The presentation and quality of the food is impressive to say the least, and the price is perfect for what you get. I will definitely be back for more.
