Ethiopian Food. Lisa did not care too much for this restaurant so I’m writing this review. On a Friday night we were only accompanied by one other party, a couple, the majority of the evening. We ordered the lamb and a veggie platter. The food was very culturally driven and reminded me of Indian cuisine. Our server was friendly and humorous. Again, great service and quality food, can never go wrong with this combination. Mesob Ethiopian Rest. My wife and I eat at many ethnic restaurants and particularly enjoy well prepared and seasoned Ethiopian food. We are vegetarians so we can not comment on the many choices of meat dishes but happily comment on the veggie combo. It was Very well prepared, seasoned and traditionally served. We enthusiastically recommend this restaurant and will make it a regular stop for us.
Tastes Like Home. I am not from Ethiopia, but when I eat here I just feel so happy. It’s basically Ethiopian comfort food, it warms you up and makes you feel at home. But you should totally go for lunch and then get buna (coffee) afterwards. It is the right way to top off an amazing Ethiopian meal. Also they are so nice! I absolutely love the people who work there.
A perfect meal.. My boyfriend and I have been to other Ethiopian restaurants in Nashville so we figured ‘why not?’ and got a Mesob Groupon. We ordered Rice with Vegetables, YeSega Alcha Wet, and Mesob Tibs with chicken. The food was EXCELLENT, the service was excellent, the prices were excellent, and we had more than enough to take home afterwards. We will definitely be back! It’s already our favorite Ethiopian place.
OMG!!! A MUST TRY!!!. When we walked through the door we were greeted by a fantastic blend of spices that held us hostage for a few moments. It was such an inviting smell. I ordered the Lamb Awaze Tibs with basmati rice. The spice level was medium. The dish has just enough of a kick with such succulent flavor that I ate half the meal with my eyes closed.I also had the chance to try the Lamb Lega-Tibs which is very mild and very tasty. I recommend this dish to those who can’t handle heat. The last dish I tried but definitely not the least is the Beef Kitfo (Ethiopian Steak Tartare) done medium. The Kitfo has some kick but it also has a flood of flavor. I just couldn’t stop eating! I have a personal goal to try everything on the menu. I have not been at any Nashville restaurant and tried three different dishes and loved all three. It just doesn’t happen, until now. This restaurant had 51 likes (100%) and I was very happy to change that to 52 likes. It’s owned by three brothers who also own the spice store next door. They are very polite and professional and they know their craft. The brother who served us at the table was nice enough to show us the spices used in our dishes in the store so we could experiment at home. They also sell meats, good place to get your lamb at a reasonable price. Very nice place, this will be my new go-to spot. You MUST try this place. Treat yourself and your stomach will thank you for it.
Wonderful experience! The owner Meskelu was so lovely. He gave our family a personal lesson in how to eat Ethiopian style. My husband and I took our three boys ages 12, 10 and 6. The 6 year old declared it his favorite restaurant. The food was delicious!
Since i did BBQ (Spring Hill) for lunch, i thought i’d be good and do vegetarian for dinner. These folks have a ‘chefs choice’ sampler which is a LOT of food for me. I ended up with 2 lentil dished, greens and …. something that’s not so memorable. They have beer, no spirits. Friendly, unassuming staff – it ain’t Applebees (thank God).
