This is my sixth visit, but my first one in a year or so. The restaurant has obviously undergone some management and maybe ownership changes. While the did is still very good (the most important thing) the overall state of the place has deteriorated. This was previously the more recent and sophisticated Ethiopian restaurant in town. Now it seems to be a hangout/bar/hookah place that also serves food. I will return… but not until I check out some of the other shops in town.
I was very hesitant to try Ethiopian food because I had never had it and wasn’t really sure what it was like. I’m so glad my friend convinced me to go! This food is super savory, well seasoned…you really just have to come try it and see for yourself. We ordered a veggie tray and a meat tray so I could try everything and it was all amazing! Really good service here, too – everyone was very nice and service was prompt. I’m completely stuffed but I can’t stop myself from eating more!!
Having enjoyed Ethiopian restaurants previously I was looking forward to the opportunity to share this cuisine with my family. Mesob, while new to me, turned out to be an excellent ambassador. The service was excellent – the server took time to describe and explain the dishes to us.We particularly liked the chick pea and lentil dishes – they were appropriately seasoned. In the meat dishes we liked the ground beef and beef tip dishes. The ground beef dish had a delightful spicy zip – just enough to let you know it was there.
