Try the Sampler Plater & a Fruit Tea. The Sampler platter is the way to go at lunch. A scoop of their delicious Chicken Salad (#1 requested item on menu), a scoop of their delicious Pimento Cheese (#2 requested item on menu) and a huge muffin round out the plate. Yesterday we also splurged and ordered slices of the Fresh Strawberry Cake to go. Wow, no doubt there were fresh strawberries in the cake and the icing was lick your fingers good! There are all kinds of menu items in the to go refrigerated coolers – casseroles, chicken salad, pimento cheese, desserts, and appetizers. But don’t leave without trying the Fruit Tea (but you’ll be hooked on it so be careful!)

Rich matrons. Wealthy gentlemen and rich bi*****s fill the tables at Picnic Cafe. See and been seen and gossip away. They’ll welcome most anyone, though if they’re not dressed

The Picnic has long been one of my favorite lunchtime standbys. Their chicken salad (their most famous and popular dish) is the best you will find in Nashville as it avoids the overly mayonaise-y, overly sweetened makeup of most chain restaurant varieties. There are many other options to choose from, including sandwiches, salads, and daily hot casserole specials. The quiche plate, served with a fresh muffin, cranberry salad, and fresh fruit, is always a nice change of pace. For dessert, the mint brownie and caramel and coconut cakes are divine. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this spot for lunch on the go and a generous helping of Southern food and charm.
