I have been here several times with my family. We always enjoy it! Good food. Love the muffaletta sandwich and ordering beignets for a treat. It is family friendly, warm and welcoming environment. The proprietor, Richard, often comes around to chat…and, he performs, too with whomever is the invited performer, on spoons, rhythm, harmonica, guitar.
Great food! Fun atmosphere! Fabulous music! We will definitely be back. Nice surprise to find good cajun food in Tennessee! I highly recommend the crawfish pie!
Disappointed!. We made reservations as recommended for Saturday night. We arrive and the place was about half empty. We thought it was due to the rain. We asked to sit outside. Our server sat us outside with menus and walked off. We sat for 15-20 minutes waiting for her to return. My husband finally had to go in to get her. She finally came out and took the drink order and food order at the same time. We didn’t see her again for refills or anything else until she brought the food. We had five different dishes. Two were good the others were just ok. The owner sat another couple on the patio with us and offered them Boudan which wasn’t on the menu. We would have definitely ordered it if we knew it was offered. It may have been a special, but we wouldn’t know because the server never told us anything. We sat for 20-25 minutes after we were done eating waiting for her to pick up dishes, offer dessert or bring the check. The owner walked by several times to talk with the other table but never asked if we needed anything. The server never returned to the table and never brought the check. We estimated the amount of our check and laid it on the table and left. It was a disappointing experience since we had been wanting to try it for awhile. Not sure if we will return.

Nice place, but not exciting. I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, so I was disappointed that it didn’t live up to my hopes. The music was pretty sedate, which didn’t fit my idea of Cajun music. Decent crowd, but there were a couple of empty tables on a Saturday night and it’s not a big place. I don’t like seafood or spicy food, so my options were really limited, but I decided to be brave and try the crawfish etouffee (with a hamburger as a backup!). It was definitely too fishy for me. My friend said it tasted a lot like crab to him. He does like seafood, so he got the jambalaya and the gumbo, but wasn’t impressed with either. I did think the hamburger was pretty good, although a little on the small side (enough for me, but wouldn’t be enough for most people). I also ordered okra, which is one of my favorites, and it was the most bland okra I’ve ever had. I don’t think there were any seasonings on it at all. For dessert I got the beignet bomb, which almost made up for the rest of the meal. It was four beignets, with a small scoop of ice cream in the middle, totally covered in powdered sugar and drizzled with chocolate. So, I may go back there for a hamburger and the beignets, and I might give the live music another shot with a different band, but this will not be a new favorite restaurant. 🙁
Great place to eat!. We stopped in at Richards for brunch on Sunday. The gumbo is delicious and so is the shrimp Po boy. The staff was so nice, very helpful and very personable. We will definitely be back, hopefully for the live music!
First visit, well liked.. Our first visit: we showed up to watch the live music and were not sure what to expect. I tried the ham and cheese Po’boy with fried okra and she got the burger with fried potatoes. The food was exceptional and done to both of our satisfactions. a good first visit!
