Tried Ru Sand out for dinner since we were in town briefly and didn’t have time to get a reservation at a nicer place. The Japanese Bagel roll and miso soup weren’t bad; in fact they were pretty good. However, I had the shrimp+scallop dinner with fried rice and it was absolutely terrible. The shrimp and scallops were over cooked, the veggies were undercooked, and none of it had any flavor at all. The shrimp and scallops literally tasted like nothing. The fried rice was bland as well. The service was minimal at best. Really disappointed we spent our only night in Nashville eating here.
Abominable. We were sitting for an hour before our waiter even took our order it took an hour and a half for our food to come. Not all of it did come. We did three rounds of checks. They ended up not being right – charging for things that we didn’t order and mixing orders together. They included a mandatory tip because they knew we weren’t going to tip otherwise. We ended up paying the wrong checks and leaving simply because we all wanted to get out of there. Overall would give the experience a 0/5. I would rather get taken advantage of by a giant scorpion than return to Rusans.
Disappointing. I’m a massive fan of Japanese food and was really happy to find one near where I live. I went in and ordered a sushi / sashimi platter and the fish was not good. Flesh was leathery and had a fishy smell to it, let alone the size of the sices was too big to enjoy raw. To top things off they had this horrible gharrish trance / EDM music playing. I finished as much of my meal as I could and got the hell out of there.Doubt I would go back at least not for sashimi.
Average at best
We used to eat here often then moves away for 3 years. This was our first time back and it was terrible. Their standards in presentation have went down. Our favorite roll looks very boring now. My wife ordered salmon nigiri (2 pieces)…they both had bones in them. That’s the first and second time I’ve ever even heard of bones in nigiri sushi.
Sushi buffet is awesome!
RUN AWAY. We were trying to figure out sushi places to go in Nashville and found this one, with good reviews and an open reservation. We should have been hip to the ways of this place immediately upon entering the restaurant- the restaurant sign was half lit, there weren’t any customers, and the servers were eating dinner up at the sushi bar. The menu is the hottest mess ever, with 975 roll options, and scary/hilarious descriptions like ‘good for golfers’ and ‘find the treasure in the sauce and get $10 gift certificate’. The waiter did not know what this meant. While waiting for our food, we saw a pimp come in and leave with a transvestite. Not kidding. After seeing the spoiled tuna and chicken-fried, potato-chip encrusted maki rolls, we realized that this restaurant must be a front for some underground shenanigans. The best part about the experience was what was served in bottles- wine and tsingtao. Beware of this place.
