We were greated by a friendly staff on a cold and rainy Sunday. They took the time to give us information about the marina and it’s activities and served us a great meal! We went back the next saturday and they remember us and our second meal was great too! Everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere was great!
I’m not sure about the food, because the service was so incredibly bad that we never even had a chance to order. No one greeted us. No one told us they’d be with us shortly. There were no menus on the table, bar or posted outside the door so we could at least be looking at what we’d like to order. The patrons just stared at us uncomfortably and the staff totally ignored us. We tried sitting at both the bar and table. Neither got us any recognition. I’m not sure what the problem was, but typically even if you’re short staffed, you let your guests know that and tell them you’ll be with them as soon as possible… Maybe even offer them a glass of water or just a menu… Even a hello is better than nothing. I don’t recommend this place for the service issue alone.
Shipwreck Cove did not excite me.. A few weeks ago a few friends and I boated into Shipwreck Cove at Elm Hill Marina. I had several friends rave about the food and was excited to give it a try. I got a Naked Burger which is their basic burger. It was $9.00 plus tax for the burger and some frozen crinkle fries. For $9.00 I was ready to be wowed with a killer home made thick burger with some fresh cut fries. The only thing that wowed me was the cost for something that was no better than any chain burger joint. The only thing I was happy about is my friend paid for it. Fate Sanders has a much better, bigger hand made burger with fresh cut home fries for around $7.00 and they don’t claim to be anything more than a basic grill.
Love it. I have been there twice this season and the new management has made quite a difference. The food is excellent on both occasions. The BBQ Chicken Sandwich and Club is almost too much for one setting and of great quality. Love the atmosphere. Will return.
Great food, ribeye steak sandwich the bomb! And with us being the only African Americans their, they made us feel right at home….this place is a hidden gem, and I look forward to returning before they close for the winter…
