Definitely Hot, but tasteless and took 40 minutes for one order when they weren’t busy. Long time hot chicken eater, first time customer to 400 degrees. Being a vet of hot chicken I asked for their hottest spice level. They told me about the 800 degree which is an off the menu item. I was told it would be 20 minutes. I ordered the beans as a side. I was happy to see that they served Pepsi as most places serve Coca Cola. 40 minutes later, I finally receive my food and I had to leave since I was running out of time. I first decide to take a look at the beans, it was mostly sauce, meaning the proportion of beans to sauce was off. The beans were done and yes they were good, a bit on the sweet side. The chicken was definitely fresh and piping hot, temperature wise. You can see the dry rub all over the chicken, it was a deep reddish brown color. I break off a piece of skin, upon biting into the skin I felt the dry powder on my tongue, but it didn’t really have a flavor. I chew for a bit and then the heat level starts kicking in. Now, at first I was disappointed at the heat level because even though I could feel it, it wasn’t OMG level heat level. The more bites you take off the chicken, still no real flavor, not salty, not really anything, but after each bite and a little bit of chewing the heat would hit and it was building on itself after each bite. Eventually the heat level was very high, it hits you very late. It was all heat no real flavor, nothing special, and even though it was all heat, it wasn’t hotter than the xxx hot from Princes. I am partial to Princes because no matter the heat level you order at Princes you can taste the spices used in the rub. I will not be going back to 400 degrees, that’s the bottom line. I am willing to wait an hour for my chicken at Princes, not for this chicken.

Great food, POOR service. I had a group of out-of-town friends visiting and after going to a hockey game, we decided to grad dinner at 400 Degrees. Bad mistake. The owner, Aqui, was rude and we ended up leaving and going to Hattie B’s in Midtown. I will say 400 Degrees’ hot chicken is very good, but my opinion is that if you are rude and act like you don’t want my business, then I’m happy to take that business elsewhere.

It’s a good heat!. First of all, for you Nashville Hot Chicken virgins, don’t jump right in at 200 or even worse, 400. It’s hot chicken and what about the word HOT is misleading? It’s all cooked fresh to order, and the wait starts at 20 minutes and goes up based on the number of orders ahead of you. Best to call in ahead of time. I find 200 the right amount of heat with real spice flavor, Herself liked the 100, but could have taken a little more. (She’s coming along.) The coating is nice and crisp, the meat cooked through but still moist. Just what it’s supposed to be. Chicken is the star here, as the sides seem pretty routine. Slaw is food service (or Sam’s Club) standard. I still like it and it really works to cool the mouth if you’ve chosen over your head. Fries are processed potato product crinkle cut, but are sprinkled with a spice blend. Aqui, the owner, is as nice as they come and will no doubt be the one cooking your food. With that kind of daily involvement, you know there’s a love of what she does and it shows in the chicken. Glad to have another great Hot Chicken option.

I was passing through Nashville and wanted to experience hot chicken for the first time. Ordered the 4 wings (they are whole wings) 100, and another 200 degrees. 100’s were mild and a little saltier than the 200’s, which was just right for me. I don’t want eating food to be painful. Service was exceptional, wait was 20 minutes but I was expecting that after reading the reviews. Had to try the beans after reading one of the reviews and yes, they are sweet and good. Fries good as well. Ordered sweet tea and it tasted like Nestea w/ lemon?? I know this type of chicken has a following, but I just prefer the good buffalo sauce style.

This is the one!. 200 degrees is the perfect amount of heat. I had a great experience stopping in today and talking to Aqui. The chicken was awesome. Try it!
