The food was excellent. We had the fried Brie, shrimp corn dogs, warm olives and the sliders. Everything was delicious. The waitstaff and bartenders were great. The cocktails delicious. Highly recommended!
The golden standard of cocktail bars. Do yourself a favor and order a bacon old fashion. Also, their food is top notch, particularly their beef items. The sliders are tender and savory pillows of beef that I would slap my mother for. One thing to keep in mind is that this place gets packed, so I recommend arriving at opening time (5:00), or just come prepared to wait awhile.
I came here after the fiancee and I had about enough of hanging out on the craziness that is Broadway. We were looking for a quiet place to have a few drinks and hang out on our last night in Nashville. I was not disappointed. This place has a great theme, with the lighting and decor. Think Great Gatsby chic. The waitress seated us at a bar and it was nice because it seemed like they were kinda like a restaurant and only sat people when seats opened up. So no fighting to get bartender’s attention and creates a much more personal experience. We got a rundown of the drink menu and it was extensive, most ingredients I haven’t even heard of but I settled on the Bacon Old Fashioned and Sam got the Juliet and Romeo. You could taste all the components that went into it and both drinks are probably on my top 5 all time cocktails list. The process of making the drink literally takes a few minutes and it’s a show watching them add bitters and flavors using droppers and vials like they’re mixing some sort of boozy potion. Plus they really know their craft when it comes to mixing drinks, and can explain all the flavors and help you pick something if you have a specific thing in mind. It’s not cheap, about $12 a drink but considering the top shelf and exotic ingredients they use it’s a fair price for quality and the experience. Also, when they checked our ID’s we found out they have a sister bar here in Chicago called the Violet Hour in Wicker Park. I now have a cocktail bar counterpart to my all time favorite bar the Maproom. euroatheart.com
Very good vibes. I went here for date night and the food and drinks were amazing. It’s a great speakeasy concept with New American dishes and artfully made craft cocktails. BUT the hostess was less than welcoming. She did not have a very amiable attitude toward us and it was hard to get past that as our first experience there. It seemed otherwise like a great spot for the locals. However, be prepared to wait without an idea of how much time it will be.
Ah man…so right in so many ways, so wrong in others. Decor was great, my wife’s drinks were great. Prices were ok. What’s the issue? I’m not really sure but I felt like the crowd and staff had a pickle up their aces. The meticulousness of drink preparation was bordering on the infuriating soaked in pretention. Gently placing an orange bymy bar-neighbour’s glass and resting a zester ‘just so’ on it was an overly designed gimmick that had my eyes rolling to the back of my head. Maybe I’m in the minority, but it was all a bit too dainty for me. Oh, and my soup served in a quarter mason jar was filled about an eighth full…just enough for me to mash my grilled cheese into (it didn’t come with a spoon so I guess that’s how it was to be consumed). The whole experience left me exhausted. Fortunately a Guinness tastes like a Guinness anywhere in the world so it had that going for it.
Perfect night out. This place is the best to go for a date night or just having a few cocktails. I love the vast menu and the bartenders are on point. I can’t wait to go back to Nashville just for this bar. Nothing so far has come close to the great experience I had there.
Fabulous cocktails. Doug (mixologist) is THE MAN!
