I’m generally not a big fan of chain fine dining establishments as they usually fall short of expectations. Nashville’s Ruth’s Chris on West End Boulevard is exceptional and delivered an excellent dining experience for our group of five. A solid wine list, excellent salads and side dishes, and steaks done to their traditional sizzling perfection! Nashville’s Ruth’s Chris is a chain restaurant worthy of a visit.
This is a great done for the experience, but I don’t know if I would choose to return. I enjoyed the fine dining atmosphere, but the tables felt crowded. Service was perfect. The food was great, but I can’t say it was the best steak I’ve had. I particularly didn’t care for the 500 degree plate. It’s not a bad choice, but I could think of other fine dinning choices I’d prefer over this steak house.
My family dined here on Saturday, July 25th and shortly after being seated I noticed how warm it was in the restaurant. Turns out that one of their AC units had gone out. The owner (or GM) came around and checked on our group and apologized (without us having said anything) and also gave us our desserts for free. Our server was friendly and timely. The food was wonderful and everyone left happy. Despite the heat, I still rate them a 5 because hardware failure can be expected at times especially when the temperature is nearing 100 degrees outside.
Fabulous – Is it too soon to go back again?. The night we went here they were SO busy. Even so, we were seated quickly. Service was top-notch from the start. Polished wine glasses, perfect pour, fantastic cabernet and that delicious bread. Great atmosphere, and friendly but professional servers. I ordered the filet, which was one phenomenal steak. I also had the garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus spears. Absolutely fabulous meal and dining experience. If I could have eaten another bite, I might have tried the chocolate sin cake because I saw it go by and it looked soooo good.
Very good!!. This was my first visit to the restaurant and I had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and the staff was very professional and friendly. I will definitely return.
So disappointing. Cringe-worthy service experience. Note: since a lot of my criticisms are service-oriented I should point out that I have waited tables at a wide range of restaurants. I’m sympathetic to it’s many challenges. Also, this dinner was over 3 months ago but I still get angry when I think about it. I felt the need to type out my experience so I can just get over it. So many newer Nashville restaurants I’ve been dying to try but our friends seemed stuck on Ruth’s Chris for a celebratory dinner. That said, I was honestly looking forward to a nice, classic steak dinner. First time at Ruth’s Chris, bring it on!Well right off the bat the waiter set an uncomfortable tone for the entire evening. He was overly flattering as he made his introductions and laid it on so thick it was uncomfortable. I could tell that my husband and our friends were put off by it too. But hey, there are worse things to have than a groveling server, right? Most diners probably love his schtick. I try to move things along and ask about the wine list. He BS’s me something terrible and kept insisting on high-priced bottles and selections that showed he hadn’t understood a word I said. Fine, I picked something, it was fine. I mean my husband and I were exchanging looks at this point. Throughout dinner the service was efficient but was so hovering it felt like we were possibly mistaken for a secret shopper. It’s definitely not relaxing to have a manager interrupt us every 30 minutes to ask how everything is; once towards the end of our meal would have been sufficient.I pick another glass of wine, it’s fine. Our main courses arrive and even though we had 4(!) servers attending the…ordeal (it made it seem like one) someone still managed to spill my sizzling-hot steak onto the table just missing my lap. No big deal, that could happen to ANYONE. They apologize profusely and I cheerfully insist they don’t need to replace my steak. Again, I would never fault someone for a spill like that but I couldn’t help but point-out that for all their fawning and redundant servers I still almost got a lap full of hot beef! I felt it was ironic but i’m probably using the term wrong like everyone else. Anyway, my husband and I split our favorite cut, a giant ribeye which was just okay. It was gristlier than the ones I buy at Costco but at least it was cooked medium-rare like we asked. Our table of four shared an array of sides (I do love family-style sides because I am one of those people that like to sample as much of a menu as I can). The sides were good..ish. I can only recall the lobster risotto in particular, it was the only side dish that was empty at the end of our meal. It was over-seasoned but still very tasty and the one bright spot from dinner. To be honest our friends seemed to thoroughly enjoy the food (but maybe they just held their tongues until they got in their car like we did). As my husband and I grab the check to pay the $200+ portion of the tab I get the sickest feeling of wasted money I’ve had in a very long time. We don’t spend that kind of money on dinner lightly, but at the same time we are more than happy to pay up for a nice evening with superlative food. I like to think our friends enjoyed it enough for both our tabs because, quite honestly, I’ve had more memorable and tastier steak dinner at freaking Longhorn’s Steakhouse. So very disappointing! What a waste of a dinner out in Nashville.
Great place for meat lovers. We all had the prix fix classic. Service was superior. Cuisine was excellent.
