Excellent little urban grocery store with quality meats and seafood, decent produce selection, and a wide variety of canned, boxed and frozen foods. There is an excellent cold bar with myo salad and prepared veggies and salads. the hot bar is hit or miss in my opinion. The breakfast burritos and biscuits are quick and tasty. Fresh juice bar is also offered.

Mostly overpriced. Turnip Truck in the Gulch is right outside my doorstep, but I rarely go there because of the price. Some of the hot bar lunch items are just ok, while others are tasty, but for a full meal you’ll easily spend $17-20 for lunch. For that price, you could get a nice, sit-down lunch at Etch. Or for less than $9 after tax you can get a very large to-go box full of many fresh salad bar selections (some organic), bread, fruit, and dessert at Jason’s Deli on West End (the best healthy lunch deal in town). Also, there are many grocery items that Turnip Truck significantly marks up. For example, an organic Pure bar is double the price at Turnip Truck than at Trader Joe’s. Same with staples like peanut butter, the same brands of yogurt any other grocer sells, etc. Why? Bottom line: Expect to pay a hefty premium if you shop at Turnip Truck. If you want to buy healthy, organic, and sometimes local items that are more reasonably priced try Aldi, Trader Joe’s, and the Nashville Farmer’s Market.

Local Indie Sweet. Great place to get groceries and support the local economy.

Wow, can’t believe I haven’t Turnip Truck them before!!. What a wonderful lunch we had today at The Turnip Truck! An urban grocery store with a healthy twist combined with an incredible hot and cold lunch bar makes for a very good (and hip!) alternative in the Gulch area of downtown Nashville. You pay $7.99 a pound for items on the bar and the soups are between $2-3 for a bowl. The standouts today were the spicy roasted cauliflower and the Original Chicken Salad. With big chunks of freshly roasted chicken, the Original Chicken Salad included red and green peppers as well as red onion. Wow, one of the best I’ve ever had and a definite inclusion the next time I visit. The Curried Lentil & Chicken soup ($2.79) was creamy and delcious with long slices of tender chicken. And for the first time, I had BBQ tofu, not bad for tofu!! The tilapia was tender and a very nice thick portion. Each day there are different offerings in the soups, entrees and vegetables.Since it is near Easter, hot cross buns were available for purchase. There is seating inside as well as on the patio in front of the store. The fresh meat section looked awesome with very nice steak and the best clams, mussels and oysters at a Nashville market.

Great Market!. Soo glad to see Turnip Truck expand! I used to shop at their East Nashville location, employees were always very friendly and they always had the fare I was looking for. Good luck in the Gulch!
