How did you overlook this fine place?. My wife and I take vacations to Nashville often partly because we love the vast and diverse selection of places to eat. When we couldn’t get into some other restaurants we just drove around and ended up taking a shot at Valentino’s. We were promptly seated. No waiting at all. In fact, this set the tone for the entire night. Everything was prompt and professional. It’s one of the most professional restaurants I’ve ever ate at. The staff takes their duties seriously. I dare you to try drinking a glass of water down more than half empty. These people are all over it. Most of the other eating establishments around Nashville in the higher spending ranges do not make their wait staff take their jobs seriously. The younger crowd seems to think dressing sloppy and not being well groomed is a trendy new fad. I’m a little bothered by that when I’m shelling out $150.00 for dinner for two. You won’t find that at Valentinos. These people are sharp dressed, sharp mannered, and extremely courteous.Our food was nothing short of spectacular. My wife and I are very conscious of eating local and eating organic. I can’t speak for the entire menu but the salad was advertised organic. It was very colorful and very fresh in appearance. We both agreed that it was totally good. My main course was rack of lamp. It was delievered within 15 minutes of finishing the salad. The display couldn’t have been any more appealing. The creation was a small work of art. I was a bit concerned that the portion would not be enough to satisfy me, but I was mistaken. The lamb was very tender and juicy, just melted in your mouth. Below the rack rested mashed potatos, asparagus and was garnished with peeled fried zuchini. What a delightful combination. I admit, I was hesitant to eat the asparagus. I hate asparagus…. it’s a childhood nightmare of mine. But – It was just too inviting. They too were very delicious and were not spared. There were no survivors after I finished with the exception of bones from the rack.For dessert I had the flourless chocolate cake toppped with Bailey’s ice cream. It was pretty darned good…. Again, when I was finished there was not a trace of the delicious cake besides some smearing of the chocolate sauce that I failed to mop up.All in all this was a great place. We don’t make it a habit to repeat visits to restaurants in Nashville because there are just too many tempting places to dine at… BUT Valentino’s will be the exception to the rule. It was very romantic, very courteous, and just a great evening overall. You won’t be disappointed.
