Best Japanese restaurant in Knoxville. This is the only truly authentic Japanese restaurant in Knoxville. No fried rice, no egg rolls. Real Japanese ramen and soba. Katsu, ebi fry, curry, gyoza… And the sushi is prepared by a Japanese sushi chef. You might have to wait a few minutes for sushi, but the cuts of fish are perfect.31 Jan, 2015Kari Kari Tako Yaki. Deep fried dumplings with octopus meat inside, covered with Japanese mayo and bonito flakes.31 Jan, 2015Kaisen Oyako Don. Raw salmon and salmon roe atop steamed rice.31 Jan, 2015Nigiri #9. 9 pieces of assorted nigiri. It is chef’s choice, so you get a little different variety each time.31 Jan, 2015Una Don. Eel marinated in a sweet soy sauce, then cooked and placed atop steamed rice. This dish is very rich.
Long Wait – No Food. Sorry for the low rating, but after spending over an hour waiting for our sushi plate to arrive, we decided not to wait any longer. It was a Thursday evening and the crowd was small. Even so, we weren’t the only patrons waiting for food. We watched the sushi chef cater to several Japanese business men sitting at the sushi bar. Once in awhile he’d make up a plate and send it out to the floor. Otherwise, he chatted and made individual sushi for what surely must have been his closest friends. That’s the only reason I can see for him completely ignoring the rest of the people in his establishment.
Sushi was very fresh. Service was excellent. Don’t let the fact that this is in a strip mall fool you. It is an excellent restaurant.
So happy to have a great sushi restaurant in Farragut, been there a dozen times always top notch and affordable. I think every time I have been there, there’s been many Japanese businessman eating too…which is always a good sign. Yoshi is a fine host but terrible golfer.
Delightful. Such a nice restaurant with much more to offer if you would just give it a chance. The decor on the inside is beautiful and the service was great. Now, on to the sushi. Needless to say, I would love to go back. I ordered a sashimi plate and was thoroughly impressed. Not very fulfilling so my friend and I split something similar to a love boat for around $45. Came with a lot of nigiri, sashimi, spicy tuna roll, and last a california roll. Now, I really despise eating Cali rolls; however, I must say that the preparation of the rice gave the roll a bit more flavor than normal. The nigiri was simply amazing and a good hamachi nigiri will make me more than happy. For the price and dining experience I highly recommend this place. Again, there are other restaurants in Knoxville, but I can assure that this one is better than some sushi spots in both price and taste.
No question…..Best Sushi in Town……
Favorite in Knoxville. My wife and I have eaten here three times now and have been pleased all three times. The sushi is very good from sashimi to rolls. The nabeyaki udon noodles is my favorite dish and I have had it twice now. The sushi chefs always have a smile on their face and seem to really enjoy their work and their customers.
