The previous two owners did a great job running a good German Restaurant. The new owner ruined a once great high end German Restaurant. The service is awful and rude. The food quality went way downhill. The prices remain high, but are not justified by the quality. The owner was walking around in dressed in full camouflage and rudely addressed simple questions. The new owner would be more suited running a NASCAR dive bar than a high end German Restaurant.

Great find this week for dinner. Always liked German food and this was spot on. The place is just a bit small and i suspect would be a difficult wait on the weekend. On Wednesday night though walked right in. There are several higher end dishes on the top of the menu in the high $20’s to $32. I went with the chicken schnitzel for $17.00. Placed order with the Lindberg sauce. Mushrooms and artichoke. Man is that good. Chicken was tender and still had a delightful crust on it as well . Fried potatoes on the side were fairly typical and required salt in liberal dose. Im sure ill be back here sooner than later.

Food was good. The pate had a pleasantly smokey flavor. They were out of the item I wanted so I ordered a veal snitzel. Very disappointed in the portion size (1 small piece of veal) for the high price paid. On a positive note, when I mentioned my concern to the manager he adjusted the check. The German fried potatoes were raw on the inside and burnt or under cooked on the outside. Beer selection was fair. On a health note, I have concerns about a restaurant who does not have hot water in the restroom.

I absolutely love this place and it is a must try if you have never tried German food. The Wienerschnitzel is absolutely the best. I like the pork and veal the best and you get to pick from eight different sauces to go on top. The fried German potatoes and the spatzel (German noodle) are the best sides. The absolute best part is the German beer that you can get in either a half liter or a liter.

Linderhof has some nice core German items (schnitzel, sausages, rouladen, rippchen), but also some very interesting appetizers (ruben fritters and hof wings, a pork variation on buffalo wings that shouldn’t be missed). Their price point is a little higher than Knoxville average, but I’ve always found it to be acceptable, and each of my more recent visits has seemed a little better than the last. It’s always nice to see a place that gets better with time:) We recently took a medium sized group to Linderhof, and I wasn’t sure how some of the less adventurous eaters would fare, but we all had a great time and everybody looked forward to returning.

If you want German food while you’re in Knoxville then this is spot. That may not be saying much because they are not that many German places in Knoxville. I’ve always enjoyed the food there, particularly the beer cheese soup and the pork shank. Of course the German beer is good too. We have had some issues with the service not being what you would expect. We feel this is a good place to go if you want something different than the normal chains or local fare.

BEST EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE. I finished my meal and was going home when I had a flat. They are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Also the food was terrific. It was a great time that made the most of a bad situation.
