Good Seafood……for Knoxville. So we all know K-town is not a seafood destination. That being said, you can really get a good oyster / shrimp Po’Boy here. There is no doubt that this is probably the best / fresh seafood market it town. It’s really too bad that Shrimp Dock doesn’t open a real casual restaurant / market with wait staff and an actual menu. The food here is good and reasonably priced. My wife and I stopped here on Saturday afternoon for a Po’Boy. I ordered an Oyster Po’Boy. There were only two other people (a couple) in the restaurant who ordered a meal right before us. The bearded guy who took our order was unfriendly and appeared unhappy to be working for Shrimp Dock. I told him that we wanted to split an Oyster Po’Boy and selected Fries and Jambalaya as sides. We ordered the meal to go. After waiting more than 20 minutes we decided to just stay and eat. The young lady who brought our food was very charming and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had split our meal into two separate Styrofoam boxes. They even split the sides….Really Cool Shrimp Dock! Opening the box I was disappointed to see that they had prepared a shrimp Po’Boy instead of the Oyster Po’Boy I was longing for. Looking at my receipt, I saw that I was charged for a shrimp po’boy and I didn’t want to wait for another order to be prepared. On the up-side the shrimp was super good. Seasoned and cooked just right……not overcooked and chewy. The sides were also good. I will be coming back for that oyster po’boy sometime soon, but will probably call in and take out.
Lunch here a couple different times. Both times were just great. Keep in mind this is a fresh fish place and you pay for what you get. The main courses I have had are the shrimp and the crab cake platter. Both were very good and fresh. Prepared very well and not overcooked. The slaw is very good and worth getting some to take home. Average meal is basically $10.00 not counting the drink. many different choices and worth the price.See pictures attached.
Wild salmon. The wild salmon dinner with jambalaya is excellent!!!!!!!!!!!
The ONLY true Cajun joint in town- workers are super nice- great seafood
Ordered the cod dinner. Was extremely disappointed. Mostly breaded type batter. Very skinny piece of cod in it. Asked three times for tartar sauce before receiving it. Asked for lemon twice before receiving it. The soda was warm & had to ask twice for ice for it. Service is terrible. Potato salad was very soupy. Fries were like a fourth of a order any place. Had 10 pieces that were only 2-3 inches long. Not worth spending my money to go back.
Check the count. Two weeks ago, I purchased 16-20 count shrimp from the Shrimp Dock and they were PERFECT. I got about 24 shirmp which weighed 1.3 pounds. Saturday (4/7/12) I purchased the exact same shirmp – and got 1.75 pounds. I was preparing them on Sunday for our Easter lunch to discover that about 1/3 of the shirmp were the accurate size but most of them were smaller. I ended up with 42 shirmp at less than 2 pounds. They were great – but I just recommend looking at them to make sure they are all close in size.
Have some shrimp. I tried the Shrimp Dock in Farragut Tuesday after being told many times by my older brother that it is definitely worth trying out. It’s not often that I’ll admit it but my older brother was right. The food is very good. The atmosphere was laid back with a get it and dig in attitude. I had the shrimp po’boy with a side of fries and coleslaw. There was so much shrimp on the sandwich the shrimp fell out while I ate it (and I’m not complaining about that!). The bread was soft instead of hard (as I so often find many po’boy sandwiches have a hard bread) and it also had some extra seasoning on it which was very tasty. I definitely intend to go back. Some things to note they are only open for lunch from 11 to 3 Mon-Sat AND if you would like you can purchase fresh seafood there and take it home to cook the way you like it.
