Had not been to the Bayou in a while so thought I would drag some across town to-go. The actual seafood is okay. Not the best around, but at least satisfactory. I like the touch of lemon on the hush puppies; really gives them a unique taste. The red beans and rice has the type of consistency that does the dish justice; just thick enough gravy, but not at all clumpy. The service is solid.
Very Disappointing!. We are from S. Carolina and were really looking forward to some good seafood but we definitely didn’t find it here! I had gator and catfish, my husband had shrimp and crab legs…the crab was slimmy and had a horrible fishy smell and taste. The new potatoes tasted like they were just pulled out of the yard and not washed before cooked. Everything else tasted like it came from the freezer section at Walmart. The meal was definitely not worth the price!
Eh…. Third visit was less than great, the red beans and rice were very bland and the jambalaya was served lukewarm and way over cooked (ie. Microwaved)The blackened alligator, which we have enjoyed in the past, was not freshly prepared, my guess is microwaved as well. Very disappointed. On the plus side, the etouffee and steamed shrimp were great.
