First of all I was skeptical about this place because I’m not from the area and I’ve never heard of this place except for the reviews. I’ve never had better service and compassion from a person in my life. The owner took care of me and my girlfriend and told us to make ourselves at home while sampling almost everything on the menu because of the pride his wife and him have towards this cuisine. Hidden gem if I’ve ever seen one. The pita the hummus the falafel the figs…. Check it out!

My new haunt. When Ali Baba Time Out Deli closed a while back I was distraught. I knew about King Tut’s, but I didn’t particularly care for their recipes. Nice people, just not for my palate. Holy Land, which somehow I had skipped over all these years has filled the hole left from Ali Baba’s closing. The main dishes here are as good if not better than the ones at Ali Baba’s were, plus the grocery store is better stocked. The only dish that didn’t meet or surpass my preference of my old favorite was the Baba Ganoush. It was tasty, just a little different than what I prefer. The folks that run this place were really into making sure we were taken care of. We stood and talked with them about random stuff, mostly the illegality of Kinder Surprise Eggs, for a while as they were closing up shop. The pickled turnips and grenadine soda were nice touches. I now live in NC and only come to Knoxville a handful of times a year, but I know where I’ll be eating every one of those times.

If you miss falafel hut, come here!. This place is the real thing! All the classic middle-eastern goodies you expect- falafel, hummus, eggplant, fattoush, etc., excuse my spelling, but it’s all great! These guys are relatives of Renee and Sam (RIP) from Falafel Hut and they do a great job. As if that’s not enough, they do fantastic deli classics like the Reuben and Italian- better than any other in town. They also have daily specials like lentils and rice, lamb, and more. Full mid-east grocery, interesting beverages, olives by the pound, and more. Support this local business!

Rueben. Perfectly seasoned corned beef prepared in-house and served with marbled rye, creamy Swiss cheese, and and outstanding homemade dressing. The balance between the rye, corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and dressing are perfectly balanced every time!

Why have I never been here?. So, my wife and I always go next door to Gosh Ethiopian. I decided to finally go next door to Holy Land to see what it was like. I have one word for what I’ve tried. WOW! The owner ( I think its Walter…if not sorry) He talked to us and let us try some samples of their food. They have specials and then a regular menu for middle eastern food etc. We spent $26 on the food he let us try first and had it for lunch the next day. Amazing! highly recommend this place.

I loved all of the food I tried, but I think this place is way overpriced for what it is.

Lunch. Have had lunch here twice now and both times were good. Wish they stayed open at least til 8:30 for dinner!
