Disappointing. I have been served cake from Magpies on two separate occasions. Both times the cake was lackluster. The cakes were dry and the flavor lacked much to be desired.

What are you guys talking about? Magpies is the best!. I have read a lot of negative reviews on Google+ and similar sources on line. Let me say, I am not convinced that those people went to the actual real Magpies. I have never had a cake or cupcake from them that wasn’t absolutely delicious. Red velvet, lemon raspberry, key lime, strawberry, and even flavors like dark chocolate Guinness for Fathers Day… Every bite leaves my palate astounded. I have never had a dry cake, and the icing is nothing short of spectacular.Magpies delivers to Three Rivers Market down the street. Here is what I have whitnessed. Some one from Magpies is in the store around three times a week to deliver fresh cup cakes and check the ones on the shelf for quality. If a cup cake looks like it had messed up icing, or was at risk for not being fresh, they are removed and discarded immediately. That is the kind of care that the team at Magpies puts in to making sure they are the highest quality bakery in Knoxville.Bridezillas and the like who are mad about not getting the EXACT shade of hot pink they wanted are clearly in the minority, as Knoxville has voted Magpies Best Bakery and Best Cupcakes for several years running. They are truely a treasure of our city. Keep up the great work, ladies!

Times gone by. I remember the first time I had a cupcake from Magpies, it was fresh, moist and the icing unbelievable. I had several more cakes and cupcakes over the next few years and the quality remained. However, a few years ago I noticed a change. The cakes started getting dry and didn’t seem fresh. I like to drop off cupcakes to my clients but i have had to switch to other fresher and better sources. The cakes and cupcakes, although picked up at the store, always seem stale like they were mass produced and frozen. My sister in law always has Magpies at her parties and people line up to eat them, falling over themselves that they are Magpies, but I just don’t get it. There is much better to choose from, maybe they just don’t know.

Oh Magpies, I love you. Magpies is a true treasure in Knoxville, nested between The Old City and Happy Holler, they use all buttercream all the time 😉 The bakery is so cute and the staff is always as sweet as the generous samples. I’m personally having an ongoing affair with the deluxe wheat free minis.. and I plan on continuing the relationship for a long time to come. Lucky me they’re also sold at Three Rivers Co op! I’m the person eating them all.. In case y’all wondered.Thank you Magpies for making beautiful wheat free cupcakes. I love you.

Sweet. Check it out.. Stop in for a sample. Buy some cupcakes. Buy some books next door! An asset to Knoxville.

Wonderful!. We used Magpies for our wedding and could not have been more pleased! The staff is always friendly and attentive. Our cupcake tree and cake topper were extremely cost effective alternatives to a tiered cake. We saved money by not needing plates (specialty napkins instead), not needing cake cutting service ($1 a head), and because the cupcakes are reasonably priced! Also, our guests loved being able to pick out which one(s) they wanted, when they wanted.
