Maker’s is a new place in an old neighborhood, with a coffee shop right next door. You’ll stand in line for a bit, and when you have your booty, it will be one of 10 different cake-style donuts. Most of these varieties are different icings/toppings on the same basic building block. I’ve been several times recently, and like them a lot, but if you don’t happen to like cake-style, or if you don’t happen to like the basic donut beneath, your mileage my vary. At $1.50 per donut when purchased by the dozen, and higher for half a dozen, these are not cheap donuts. But every one I’ve had I would gladly have again (I prefer cake to raised anyhow). Maple and maple bacon seem to be featured often, but my favorite of all is the churro, and I’ve found all of their fruit-flavored icings to be top-notch. They have limited hours, but have late (very late) hours on Friday and Saturday nights, which I think is a great twist.
