Neat atmosphere, good food, awful service. Food = good. Atmosphere = superb. Service = terrible. Correct me if I’m wrong, usually wait staff take their smoke breaks in a smoking area outside somewhere.. not sitting in a booth next to customers? Ideally, they also mind their language around patrons.. well, not here. Loved the hookah, delicious lamb items… just get some good staff who actually like their job and care more about giving people a good experience to go along with the chill atmos and good food, instead of sitting on their posteriors chatting with their buddies and rolling their eyes at the request of a drink refill.
Possibly the worst service in town. 12 of us decided to go to Cairo Cafe to enjoy the hookah and have a few drinks before venturing to the next place where we had reservations. We should have left as soon as our waitress opened her mouth because she was a complete idiot. It took her 15 minutes to understand our drink orders that consisted of a couple of cocktails and a few beers. At one point I shifted down one seat on the couch and she had to start all over with the group because it through her off. Then she came back to our group at least 3 times to get the beer orders again because they were out of the entire menu. At least 20 minutes went by before we received our drinks and mine being a cocktail was already watered down because the ice melted as it sat on the bar. That was the only drink I was offered, the place had all of 15 customers and she anything but tended to our group. It took her another 30 minutes to tab us out because she was too busy running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Terrible service, terrible ambiance, total waste of time, I will never go back.
Great Job!. I brought visitors to the Cairo Cafe earlier this week and had a less than stunning experience due to an unsatisfactory server. I brought this to the attention of the restaurant owner and manager, and they were extremely apologetic and kind.Cairo Cafe made sure that my next visit was excellent, and it was. I am thrilled to change my review and to report that I will visit again very soon. I appreciate the owners and management for caring so deeply for the reputation and for the guests who frequent their establishment. I suggest that all who are curious about downtown Knoxville’s only hookah bar go and enjoy! I’m very impressed with their attention to customer service (as well as their hummus- yum!).

Fun times! My friends and I were just there for my birthday and had a blast. Different than places we normally go to for sure!

What a joke!!!. This has to be a joke. the place is not nearly as nice as everyone is making it out to be. granted, the decor is ok! I do agree with the first person who reviewed, the food is not good. I dont expect to be 5 stars but i agree that i expect to be able to chew my meat. the dinner we got WAS $25.00+ and then add the drinks and the hookah, we spent way more money than it was worth it. our meat was burnt too the only thing that was edible was the lamb chop. The deserts are a joke, and the sides tasted almost stale. add up to that the fact that the manager or the owner or whoever he is was rude to me and my friends when we asked to sit at a certain table and told us its reserved, we were there for 2 hours and up until we left that table was empty! the hookah was too harsh and the service was very mediocre. we asked for charcoal and got it like 45 minutes later. I totally agree its not worth it.
