Too cool, it’s a MUST stop in!! Drinks are spendie but old school hand made bar tending, attentive staff, great variety and recipes. The people watching in this small bar is off the charts – if you don’t grab at least one drink here your Knoxville trip was NOT complete and that’s as simple as that.

Peter Kern libationary. PKL has a tremendous book selection, and great book quality and interesting dynamic and spin on old book views and approach. The librarians have had some poor reviews, but it’s a library? they are supposed to be kinda quiet. On a real note, rather the place not be ran by the greater Knox crowd. Honestly, speakeasy vibe isn’t supposed to have bartenders rolling drinks down arms like Tom Cruise in Cocktail. They are supposed to make drinks, nod, smile, and make light banter. I felt it more genuine than many other speakeasy style bars I have been too. Palmer served me and made my drink, and nothing was lacking at all. Great experience. Keep it genuine. Keep it tradish

Now my favorite place. Went here for my 21st birthday at a friend’s recommendation. So glad I did! Really cool atmosphere, very relaxed and comfortable. Considering the library setting, having the drink menu in books and the drinks having literary names was a cute touch. The Artful Dodger is seriously so yummy, and they make a great Lemon Drop. I will most definitely be going back!!20 Jan, 2015Nowy favorite place. Went here for my 21st birthday at a friend’s recommendation. So glad I did! Having been to this place so often from the start, it was always a cool, one of a kind experience. However, each time I go now, I can see how diminishing the quality is. The drinks were always overpriced but they atleast looked the part of an old speakeasy. Now, they’re the same ridiculius prices for a quickly poured joke of a cocktail from a bartender with zero personality or social skills. That’s sadly what the staff has become. Peter Kern was once a unique, great thing… But now it’s an overly trendy scam, as if they are purposely rude to their patrons just to get them to buy an overpriced drink and then get out immediately.

I have tried more than half the drinks and would not order any of them again and barely finished most and gave some away without finishing. And the attitude is very bad by the bartender.

Literally a hole in the wall. Has a wonderful speakeasy feel. Unique, top shelf selection of spirits a knowledgeable barman equal a superb evening. A plethora of home brewed bitters and menu printed in a encyclopedia volume complete this treasure.
