One of the most intimate settings in Knoxville with very good Italian choices. The service is usually pretty good when you can get it( Over the years, I have made reservations that were not honored more than once). The food is really good though; good thick gravy and everything tastes relatively fresh with a lack of shortcuts and substitutes.
BEST Italian in East Tennessee area. Friends and I, have made several trips to Savelli’s and I am now ready to give a review after trying the wonderful menu. This very small intimate restaurant is, BAR NONE, if you really know and enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, this is the place for you. Don’t let the exterior and size of the place fool you. The two women (mother & daughter) who run the place are absolutely gorgeous and wonderful chefs. There is no need for me to cherry pick the menu in my review because every item is a food hedonist’s dream. If you truly want authentic Italian forget the larger rest and come to the very BEST – SAVELLI’S on Sutherland Ave. in Knoxville.
Fun evening. My husband and another couple and I went to Savelli’s last night. After reading several reviews, I was a bit apprehensive, but there was no need to be. The food and service were both wonderful! We hadn’t been there in several years, but were so pleased. There are nightly specials which one of us got; it was fantastic. We brought in our own wine and they do charge $3 per person, but when you think about how expensive just one glass is usually, it’s a pretty good deal.
Amazed at the polarized reviews for this restaurant. We went for the first time last night and found the food to be very good and the service to be exceptionally good. Price is certainly in line with restaurants of this caliber. Already plan to go back.
Awesome find! Food was fabulous and service was great. Highly recommend to those seeking good Italian and other yummy favs including fresh fish!
This place USED to be great. I am embarrassed that I sent my parents here for dinner. The walk grate fell on my mom’s foot (she had recent surgery) and waitress made no apologies. Wine bottle in table had profanities written in it, cork fee outrageous, lobster ravioli had very little lobster and the rest was awful! The tip on the groupon was outrageous not to mention the other fees. My mother said she felt this restaurant prepared her for dining in third world countries (where we serve). I apologized profusely and paid them back for meal. At least we sent them with a good bottle of wine. For real Italian and fabulous service, see Paul at Altruda’s. Cheaper and much better all round. We will never be back.
Terrible service. Terrible restaurant and terrible service. I have to go there for dinner to spend the Groupon voucher before it expired in a couple of days. The waitress was very unfriendly, never stopped by to ask for how the food is and never refilled water during the whole dinner. Guess what, at the end of this very unpleasant dinner, a 20% tip was enforced into my bill because I used a Groupon vouch. I personally have no problem to leave a tip after the most awful dinner ever, but for 20%, are you kidding me? Never gonna go there again. Terrible restaurant and terrible service.
