Prime Rib!. I’ve never been on The Star of Knoxville before yesterday. My wife requested this as her birthday dinner this year. We really had a good time. The boat crew and wait staff were very attentive. The furnishings were nice and the sweet tea was super sweet as it should be. A small salad with ranch dressing was served before the meal. Dinner was buffet style with rolls steamed vegies, green beans, baked potatoes, chicken, and of course prime rib. The food was good (not great) quality. The prime rib was very good and they were handing out LARGE portions. People were coming back for seconds and there was plenty to go around. Unfortunately for us, our table was next to last for the buffet line and buy the time we got our meals, there was no more horseradish…………NO HORSERADISH………..WHAT THE??? I eat almost all steak with horseradish, I even make my own sometimes. This was a really bad turn for me and kinda ruined it for my dinner. The staff was apologetic and said that this has not happened before. Dessert was cheesecake. My wife does not like cheesecake and there was no other option so I ate half of hers. Costs for the 2 hour dinner cruise = $86.00 for two. I recommend calling earlier than a week in advance to get a better table number (mine was 21 and we were next to last to eat). Also, if you don’t like where your seated, you can always go up topside and have your meal in the open air. This is what we did and the cruise was delightful. The bar is also on the top level and the bartender from New Orleans was a real hoot. There were no TOP Quality Bourbons but the selection was adequate. All and all I think the 2 hour dinner cruise was worth the $$. We would have likely spent this much anyway and had a better meal, but what your really paying for here is the experience of dining with an ever changing view and cool breezes in a paddle-wheel on the Tennessee River. I’m sure we’ll do this again, and I would recommend this to friends.
